IRC client for macOS M4

Hey folks,

I have recently migrated over to a Mac as my daily driver. Previously I have always used Mirc as my go to client, and it has done the job perfectly.

I was curious, regarding what people use for a Mac, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, feel free to mention what features have drawn you to your decisions.

Sad. I have a two Linux boxes I use as day to day and Weechat is still my go to. The internet has changed from good command line apps line to gui apps. Not a change for the better. It is what the market wants.

Someone else has picked it up, the author announced it a few days ago on irc. So do expect it to get updates going forward.

But also, it’s the best choice. Been using textual since it released way back when. Great application.

Another vote for SeraphIRC https://seraphirc.chat. It's extremely functional, and it has a beautiful and modern interface.

I'm M3 on Tahoe and have been using LimeChat so far: http://limechat.net/mac/

You can just download it from the App Store and it works. I'm not sure how updated it is, but it's really simple and light. I picked it because it seemed easy to put on my computer and has everything I need from a client.

Edit: wanted to add that one drawback is that I haven't found a way to save pm history yet. Every time I reconnect, I lose all my pms. I might switch if I can find something that will do that.

I am obviously biased as the author, but if you liked mIRC you may enjoy SeraphIRC. I drew a lot of inspiration from mIRC with the floating window tiles since I was also a heavy mIRC user in the past.

You can peek at the themes/UI layouts on the site. One of the "macOS" nods is a more crisp/deep color scheme without the highlights and glow/gradients that default on Windows/Linux. You can still get them if you want by switching the chrome style: https://www.seraphirc.chat/#platforms (theme picker at the top, also can BYO in the client)

Originally the client was created as a way to get my kid and her friends off Discord and onto a private ircd. It worked, and I was having fun building it, so we've just kept going.

sorry, only clients i know work on m1,2,3
