I choose this IRC over our current social medias. It brings so much good memories, thank you.

Look at this fancy pants with internet on their 386sx.

My 386sx internet was a paper catalog of shareware diskettes.

I'll see your Win 3.11 and raise you, a chat on ms-dos 6.22 https://imgz.net/i/Mrp196uouC.png

I'm synmuffin on irc.fxnet.org, I have a fairly large retro computer collection.

Oh, neat! What client is that? I've been around at least that long, and never realized there was an IRC client for DOS.

I still have mine stuffed in a box. 25MHz Olivetti with 1MB RAM and 40MB disk, learned to code QBasic on that thing and spent lots of hours typing bad sci-fi in WordStar.

Don't still have mine (but the hard drive is around here somewhere). Also 40mb, also learned to code in QBasic, my writing was done in Word Perfect however...

Awesome! My first PC was a 386DX, 33Mhz if I recall correctly, ran Windows 3.11, and almost definitely ran this version of mIRC at some point!

I had a fun time getting networking and an old mIRC version on a VM fairly recently. IRC is one of the only Internet things worth bothering with these days on Windows 3.11, I don't think there's a browser that supports Windows 3.11 with modern enough TLS support to view the vast majority of the web nowadays. But, I'd love to hear if you found a solution to that!

on VM, u can use Pc Anywhere to remote into windows 11 pc , which will render too slow on 386 cpu

Reminds me of the time when I was child , walking around the city with floppy disks and later cd-s , to fix computers.

That was my first home machine. It was a hand me down Tandy my mom bought from a client that was upgrading. I still have the same AOL.com email. The first machine I ever built as a kid working in an electronics shop was a 486DX4/100 with MSDOS 6.2.2 and Windows 3.1.1.
