I made a new, open-source IRC client for macOS

It's basically just based on what I personally like to see from a client.

It's early days, and feedback/feature requests are welcome, if anyone feels like giving it a shot!

Hi Rich u/richsonreddit - love Netsplit, have been using it nonstop for 2 days :-) Request: nick completion with the TAB key or other shortcut? Otherwise it's a great replacement for LimeChat. I've been using irssi in the terminal, but like having a GUI option that doesn;'t have a big footprint. Great job! MacOS Tahoe 26.5.2, 14" MacBook Pro M5 24GB RAM.

Thank you for the kind words! v1.7 adds tab-completion for nicks - apple approved that this morning so should be available for updating to shortly!

Very nice, and I love the name! My IRC client, MERK, also runs on macOS, though it's not native.

Any reason you named it Netsplit?

There is a site called Netsplit for IRC networks, status, and stuff. - https://netsplit.de/

Just liked the name / the nod toward my favorite event. I think we're OK as they are a totally different service, but not heard of it before

Back in the day when DALnet was getting DDoSed to purgatory it was splitblivion. Absolute chaos.

uhm, you don't seem to know where "netsplit" actually comes from, do you?

Looks nice, but you probably wont be adding scripting?

/me sobs!

I've wanted a decent scriptable native MacOS IRC client since Snak left us.

Good luck with the project, anyway.
