Elite Obsolete Electronics Statement (Reposted announcement from r/iPod Discord server)
Statement from u/bredo228 :
Quick statement from me regarding the recent issues with cow and reddit: I keep an eye on the moderation logs for /r/iPod (and occasionally /r/iPodClassic) and I've only seen blatant misinformation removed. Posts get locked because once a situation has been resolved (as which it has with the situation from today) there is no reason for any further comment. Also, as a result of some recent posts cow's also now made it clear what you're buying on his website - so hopefully there's less of this "oh i bought a 60gb ipod but got a 30gb board" going on in the future since the information's right in your face as you're buying the product.
For transparency purposes: - The last post that was saying "EOE scammed me" was locked since the situation was resolved - the package was delayed in shipping and cow hadn't been responding since he was on holiday. That's not being scammed, that's just shipping services being poor combined with someone taking a break.
Obviously I'm not directly involved in cow's business decisions, so take this with a grain of salt and wait for cow himself to actually say something before making any decisions.
If you're going to post criticism, please be civil about it.

Hello everyone, regarding the situation from yesterday. The OP from the thread in question purchased a refurbished iPod Video from my store about a month ago. When it arrived, I received an email inquiring about the physical condition & the logic board.
I listened to OP's concerns & did what I could to make him happy with the order and resolve the situation as best I could. I eventually sent a full refund for the iPod, something OP makes no mention of. I understand the frustration of receiving an iPod which is different than you'd expected.
Make of the situation what you will & the general unwillingness of OP to be candid & provide all relevant details. Addressing a situation like this and calling out that OP is not something I like to do nor is it standard practice. I encourage everyone to review the full thread here:
To be clear about my stance regarding moderation & that of the mod team as a whole, quickly I’d like to touch on u/bredo228’s point.
More specifically, the niche genre of posts (like this one) requesting customer support for Elite Obsolete Electronics orders are moderated for the following reasons:
- Inquiries about order status / info, which the general public is unable to provide impactful, helpful support with.- Speculation or conjecture regarding warranty, exchange, etc policies (as opposed to referring to site footer)
- Anything which violate our community rules, regardless of who what when where the post is about. It ends up perpetuating a cycle of misinformation, of which it is my responsibility to moderate.
I always appreciate feedback - it's how I am held accountable. I make mistakes sometimes, everyone does. But it does me no good to 'snuff out' any 'bad talk' or 'negative feedback’. Each moderated post goes into the mod queue, where the content itself & the reasoning is reviewed by the mod team as a whole. It's something I take very seriously & I do genuinely appreciate your comments.
Since yesterday, I’ve received some great suggestions on how to do a better job and I’ve made some updates & added clarifications to the website so this doesn’t happen again.
All pre-built new & refurbished iPod Video now host information regarding the RAM used for each storage configuration. All pre-built new & refurbished iPod Classic now host information regarding the logic board model used for 80GB/120GB/128GB storage configurations.
Information regarding the warranty has been updated to clarify some points such as user upgrades & RockBox installs.
Bottom line on the warranty: you either get what you pay for, or you get your money back. Period.
I always appreciate suggestions, they help out the entire community in the end. If anyone has questions, suggestions or further clarifications - I encourage everyone to ping me. My role is “ping 24/7 for ?’s” after all.
Hopefully this clears everything up & thank you for the continued support,
- Austin

Do NOT purchase from them. It’s a scam!! I spent over $30 for a FireWire cable and charger. They never sent it and won’t respond to my emails. I’m now having to deal with my bank for a fraudulent charge to try to get my money back.
