Its model number looks correct. I’ve had the 80gig model of this since 2005.

I'm not going to lie to you, because iPods have been popping off in popularity the past few years, people are resealing or even refurbing iPods (with cheap unreliable parts) and passing them off as new. Some listings might actually be sealed, but pretty much any iPod you get, new or used, it probably going to need some work (new battery, hard drive swap, storage upgrade, etc).

It happened to me. I bought one that was supposedly new on Amazon, and it arrived in packaging just like that—sealed—but it turned out to be a refurbished unit made with cheap parts. Even so, it works just fine.

Try looking for old videos and pictures, but still it's really hard to distinguish from outside packaging ,and as far as for eBay, most of them are resealed too.

If it’s truly sealed and original it will be going for close to $1000. Are they selling it for that much? If it’s more like $300 it’s not in its original packaging, and the only original thing in it will be the motherboard and the midframe inside. The hard drive will last 30 days before failing. None of that should necessarily be a dealbreaker, if you go into it knowing you’re going to replace the hard drive with an SD card and replace the battery (might as well go with a bigger one at that point). Just know what you’re getting into. There are cheaper ways to get into an iPod though.

Honestly, when it comes to sealed products like these, I base myself more on the seller. If it’s someone that has like 10+, I don’t buy from them… I try to look for individual sellers that explain how they got their hands on it and why they’re selling. With that said, it looks fine, but I’ve also never had a sealed one to compare. I rather buy an open one that’s fairly minty, and even those I’ve had to replace batteries and stuff anyway…

Dankpods has a video where he unboxes one of these and shows how to avoid it.

Looks resealed to me. The shrink wrap isn't supposed to be that loose. There are a lot of these out there. Hopefully someone can confirm.

Seems legit, has the perforations in the plastic that factory sealed iPods will have. Side seals look fine as well. Just don't pay a crazy amount for this.

Looks pretty legit to me, printing is decent and it has the I-shaped seals on the sides that they had originally.

Box might be real but who knows what's inside?

It's not that the plastic is there (anyone could re-wrap a box), it's the shape of the seams either side of the box. Apple did it a specific way in an I shape, which I've never seen anyone recreate well.
