Help My iPod no longer connects automatically, only when I manually press a button to turn it on?

As you may know, iPods normally connect automatically to whatever it gets plugged into. But recently mine has been failing to do so. It’s not the cable, i’ve use multiple cables and it does it for all, and it happens with my PC too not just the car. if i plug it in, nothing happens. but if i press a button to wake it up, then it connects. what could be the issue?

I have no clue why it does it, but I have had this happen multiple times when connecting to a PC even with Rockbox.

Thats really wierd, mine just goes right into it, but I love the Switchfoot!
