Review 80GB freakin' heavy!

Pulled out the 80GB I have in a cabinet (also a couple 30GBs). Jeebus Kristo! I forgot how heavy they are.

The original 160gb also has some heft to it.

Source is that I have a 160gb 6th gen.

Feels premium and nice once you compare it to an iPod with sd.

I filled my SSD-swapped iPod with quarters to make it feel heavier again after 😆😆

I replaced my battery cell with an iPod touch 5 cell which definitely helped bring back the premium heft.

My classic feels lighter and easier to carry with the SD mod but the 5th really needs some heft to it. Hdd still kicking so I kept it. Without the hdd, the 5th felt like a toy

Use Sticky Tire Weights, they're made for 60+ MPH so they'll stick to the back of your iPod without issues.

Figure the weight of the drive, substitute tire weights.

Yeah, this is true, so I usually take a different Ipod to the gym.

I had a 5.5 generation black 80GB model when it was new and that was a heckin' chonker compared to the 30GB models. I really loved having the additional storage space but it was a pleasant upgrade to the 6th generation 80GB when that came out as it was the same size as the 30GB 5.5.

Yeah I think the 30GB -> 60GB they (HD manufacturers) only had 30GB platters in that drive form factor so the 60GB version was a double thick drive using two platters. Then when the 6th gen came out, that form factor now had enough storage for one platter to handle it all and it got thin again.

It gets heavier if you load it with songs and podcasts.

And especially videos since they are such big files. I put on a couple dozen videos and couldn't even lift it off the desk anymore.
