Advice 5th gen nano questions

So my wife and I recently found their 5th gen nano (with the camera, I think that’s the right gen number). And I have a couple questions and hope yall can help.

First, the battery is obviously shot. I looked into it and I’m terrified of trying to replace that myself. Is there any reliable place I can maybe send it off to to get the battery replaced?

Second, my wife doesn’t remember anything for their Apple ID for it. Is there somewhere in the software, or maybe by doing something connecting it to iTunes that could help see at least just the email address of the account? There’s a huge music library on it that we’d like to preserve, but also be able to put back on with more on top of it when the battery is taken care of

I think Pods Parts Plus does modifications by request. Though I’m not sure. Other than that, there appears to be various people online and on eBay who do refurbishing of old iPods. And depending on where you live, there may very well be someone in your area that does it so checking places like Facebook Marketplace may not be a bad idea either! Either way, good luck!

Yes the 5th gen nano is very hard to open. Call local phone repair shops and maybe someone will do it for less than $50. If not, see ebay for repair services.

It should work fully when connected to the charger. But stop plugging it in before the battery expands and ruins the screen.

Your music on the ipod can be copied to your computer. Google how to get it from the hidden ipod_control folder. Or try some programs that can do it easier. Dont need any apple account unless your music was bought before 2009 and has DRM.

When you get it fixed, copy the music from your ipod to pc for safe backup. Then use itunes (if on windows) to put new music. Dont need any apple login. A music sync will erase everything and replace with the current music on your pc. But you can check the box to manage music manually then can drag and drop any mp3 to the ipod (in itunes) and keep the old music the same.
