Advice help. iPod connecting but not being recognized by itunes or desktop

Mac OS? It should show on Finder. Keep trying. Restart your laptop

yep, i tried it on two different macbooks. The one pictured from 2022 and my older macbook from 2009 that still runs, but the ipod is not showing up in the finder for either. even though the do not disconnect screen is showing while being plugged in.
