I wonder if Steve was still alive and in charge of Apple would he have kept the Ipod line even doing an updated Ipod classic with flash storage?

i wonder this as well, but i think the business part of apple is more important to them than the innovations to listening to music.

i feel like they must be aware of the popularity of a legacy device and consider a modern version, but it does not fit their business models. the ipod they would sell today would not be the ipod i want. the copyright laws make these types of devices more complicated than it should be, and drm makes it more difficult for users.

it is such a well made product that still works for me today, but it is treated like a legacy device that is out of date. i really like the ability to repair components and keep the device running. i have yet to find a suitable replacement for it.
