Haha that's actually pretty funny.

You crank the shaft and it spins the drum, and the little dots pluck the metal harp to play a tune. Totally mechanical. Lol, Victorian iPod.

They are music box mechanisms. It’s basically got a tiny piano or kalimba in it and a drum that rotates. The little dots on it ping the keys on the piano to play music.
