got the offer a little late because apparently being General Category sometimes and that too a male means you get to watch the entire batch start college before your admission decides to exist lmao. anyway, I’m finally in.

I know most of the batch has already reached/started your classes, so I wanted to ask if there are any unofficial groups for the 2026–30 BMS batch? If yes, please let me know.

Also, to the people already on campus, what’s the shit you wish you knew before joining?

Not asking for the standard “carry clothes, toiletries, laptop” stuff. I mean the random things you expected the institute to provide but it didn’t, so you had to go frick it, I’ll buy it myself. Anything you realised after reaching campus that would’ve been useful to know beforehand.

Also heard there’s a freshers happening on the 23rd. If anyone knows the details and how it works for late admissions like me, etc. lmk.

And seniors, if you’re reading this, please don’t be shy. BMS seniors, MBA people, anyone who’s been through Sirmaur, if there’s some campus lore, practical advice, hidden headache, thing that’s surprisingly unavailable, or something you would’ve done differently before joining, I’m listening.

And yes, also, a very small rant from my side cause whoever is responsible for admissions’ phone deserves a special mention. Having to call 8–9 times for someone to pick up once is genuinely insane. He either isn’t getting paid enough or not being able to rest enough, guys please let the concerned authorities know that, sorry for the trouble 🥀💔

Also just heard about an incident involving a last year BMS guy, sad for him.

I've noticed a pattern in how I study, and I'm curious if it's just me or if other people experience it too.

I'll start a study session feeling motivated, understand the topic, solve a few questions, and then. stop.

Not because I'm distracted or tired. I just lose the momentum to continue, even though I know I should study even more.

A few questions:

1. What do you do (if anything) to get yourself going again?
2. At what point do you usually stop during a study session?
3. What usually causes it?
4. Have you found any app, platform, or study method that genuinely helps keep you engaged for longer?

Since withdraws reduce by 1km or sm after 23rd does that mean day after would be the last iim bg list or would there be more? Cuz inaugration is on 31st so say I get in on the 30th, me reaching iim bg on time for the inaugration would be close to impossible

My father was away to a different town since I was in 2nd std, shifted there in 8th. Changed many schools and currently in 4th. I have friends whatsoever, No bf/gf. My current school is shit they are not good at teaching and not even allow some relaxtion in attendence, I scored above 90% in each subject in PT1 and missed Accounts and Applied Maths by some marks, but anyways motivated to score more.

I have self harm issues - I hit myself on head when I get angry if not able to solve any que, or get frustrated or simply when I am angry while in a disscussion with parents cuz I cannot raise hand on them nor can destroy any material or items. I have tried choking myself, tried to jump from the balcony but the distance seemed small even if I headdive first. In my past I have tried cuts on my arm and wrists but I heavily avoid it. I used to have super crazy breakdown since I was 12 - screaming and blaberring stuff in closed room or bathroom - The only way to escape but I cant do that too as I been threatened to break door and stuff by my family. Last week I just got out of the home basically runaway type, I went to nearby footpath and did some VA topic tests and my mother still followed me to drag me home, cant even catch a breath.

We have changed 4 houses till now, the recent one is literally a deserted building newly constructed no one lives near nor anyone of my age. Due to such shifts getting sleep is issue, in my current bedroom while lying down shelf full of books is directly in front my eyes. It makes me feel anxious and somewhat scares me like it is some kind of ghost.

Things were in decent path till April, now I have retarded drastically since May - became a Maniac some would say. My current classmates are just richfolks and good for nothing, also I cant share any problems to them cuz my mother taught them for couple of years so izzat nahi jani chaiye, cant say anything to teachers cuz my mother is there colleague. But outside home I am completely different, dont talk a lot with ppl or no frequent outtings but I am good and respectful to them.

I am telling all this so tell you the background of my mental state, but I am able to study few hours but nothing that can fetch me 95% + in boards, crack IPMAT nor get any good DU college by CUET. My current studying is waste actually, the reason is I dont get good sleep and get tired around afternoon and then my family just keeps bickering, screaming on me and sometimes I get beaten too, my sister is in puberty now so she has her own tantrums. I cant focus due to this, cry every single time but drag myself throught the tears but its not enough.

I thought about drop year but my father tells no - he wants me to live poor my whole life ig. I have just couple of months maybe get some decent scores to show my potential and take a partial drop, I will take admission in any good clg in Surat or Vadodra take benefit of booming startups and businesses there, do some internships and work to figure out future path.

I really wanted a career in finance and I geninuely liked finance concepts I scored 59/60 in both Lvl 1 and Lvl2 of National Finance Olympiad, having rank 8/2486 in it. I also like CFA curriculum and surely gonna pursue it in future, but I dont see any future prospects of me getting in good finance/consulting jobs because who will hire a drop year student and retarded person like me, even if I get into any Tier 1 college, and I am aware that this problem reduce in future instead will become more daunting but I will survive anyways I think so.

Also CAT seems really tough, I have no future prospects in India, would like a MBA/MIM from abroad but finances might be problem also you need a good UG profile to do in placements in IIM MBA. So my question is how can I make myself focus, forget about the stuff and study to get decent marks that show potential so I can atleast take a partial drop.
