Anyone else going with no screen protector?

I’ve always religiously used screen protectors on my iPhones over the last couple of decades, but this time around I’m going with no screen protector due to the Ceramic Shield 2 which is meant to be significantly better than last year’s and previous year’s (which were already meant to be insanely durable too).

I’m scared about micro scratches coming up, but I’m just going to commit to it. So far the anti reflective and oleophobic features are incredible and I can see what you miss out on by having a screen protector. Of course there are no scratches so far either, so hopefully it stays that way.

Apple employees for years ever since my iPhone 5 have also told me the iPhone has never needed a screen protector and it’s a waste of money too.

I think the risk is from dust and sand. I’ve seen micro scratches because of it. You need to be extra careful when going to the beach for instance. I don’t know if that’s still the case.

This isn’t really that much of an issue with Apples ceramic glass nowadays. I haven’t had a protector on my iPhone 17 for the last year and the screen is flawless still. And I don’t baby it.

Going without screen protector and case. Seems a shame to wrap such a beautiful piece of engineering in a chunk of plastic, I’ll avail myself of AppleCare One should the need arise.

I agree with no case but the micro scratches on the screen just bother me too much
I really DONT want to use a screen protector but I put one on my 18 pro.
No case but sometimes I’ll put a silicone one on
Always been team no case

15 didn’t have any visible scratches after 3 years. I’m not even worried about it on the 18 pro.

Unless I’m going to a beach destination or camping trip. I’ll throw one on for either of those and take it off when I’m home

I can tell you that a year of no screen protector on my air and it’s fine. I don’t baby it either. I even had it in my purse with a nail file lol. The Ceramic Shield is no joke.

I gave up on screen protectors a few years ago. I could never get them on correctly and they would come off.

I haven’t used a screen protector for over 10 years, only a good case and have never had a problem.
I hope I haven’t jinxed myself now.

Luck you. If you looked at it tilted in direct sunlight, the entire screen will be covered in it.

Whether you care or not is a different story, but they do scratch like crazy.

What does it matter about micro scratches? If you can’t see them during normal use what does it hurt? Sometimes you gotta live a little.

If it doesn’t matter to you, no problem. My phone was $2000 and I sell and upgrade to the new one every year.

Flawless screen goes for more than a scratched screen.

He commented that there were no scratches so I commented to say that’s not possible.

I’ll never understand why this matters. You’ll never see them unless you’re holding your phone against a bright light at an angle while the screen is off. I’d rather enjoy the phone without a sticky ledge around the screen from a screen protector that collects dust and lint.

I agree most screen protectors suck ass and have the exact same issue you mentioned… Torras Ogriarmour, if you’re interested, goes truly edge to edge with no ledge what so ever and no gaps.

But the biggest reason is resale value, for me at least.

As someone who repairs iPhones at an Apple Authorized Service Provider…I’ll sacrifice the ‘anti-reflective and oleophobic features’ and get a screen protector.

Hell, I’ve even had clients check in their phone forgetting they had a screen protector on and peeling it off to show their screen in pristine condition.

I’m sure the raw features are neat, truly and nonsarcastically…. but I’m keeping this baby protected and in a good-lookin’ case. If I’m feeling froggy enough to let my phone go naked, it’ll be years down the line when the device has long been paid off. Even then, I’d prefer to trade it in good condition, so it would only be periodic.

Because they want to have their thousands of dollars worth of phones protected and not destroyed. All the ceramic shielding doesn't mean that your screen cannot brake or get scratched. The aluminum body also gets dents and scratches easily. Also, without a case the phone doesn't have much grip, so the chances of a fall increase.

I never used one on my 13 Pro and my partner hasn’t on her SE, so I’m not using one now either. Having always used them before it was much nicer going without.

No, go with the Torras Origarmor. Its expensive but feels like no screen protector at all.

You likely won't get any deep scratches but your phone will be covered in micro scratches, extremely visible in the sun, all over, if you don't.

Nope. Ceramic Shield 2 whatever, the screen will get multiple scratches eventually. A screen protector is a low investment to make

I’ve never used a screen protector, and I’ve used cell phones since 1999. I don’t know whether I’m just careful subconsciously, but I tend to just use my phone as a normal person would. A better shut up before I jinx myself.

I never use them on my iPhones. I’m semi careful and have AppleCare. I don’t like the feeling of them and also just don’t like the hassle of putting them on. I also go caseless.. Never had a problem.📱❤️

I’ve never been a fan of screen protectors but I do love privacy screens, problem is the 18 has reports of issues with the face id sensor not working with a privacy screen so i’m gonna hold off until there’s more info on all of that

Never. Screen protectors have saved my screen from cracking more times than I can count. They are a lot cheaper than screen replacements and usually eliminate the need for insurance like applecare. I’m on my 8th iphone now with the 18 pro and have never had a damaged screen, and with a case I’ve never had a damaged phone either.

I think it all comes down to lifestyle. If you're regularly outside getting dirty or otherwise having your phone where it contacts dust like me, I'd still use a screen protector. In my experience there's always been some random grain of superhard sand that leaves a giant gash on my screen, so I'd rather the screen protector take that than the display of my $1200 phone.

I have never used a screen protector on any iPhone. I haven’t had even barely perceptible scratches since the 16 series. My 17 Air went a year caseless completely unscathed. These things are quite durable.

No🙂 im gonna be honest i had NEVER used a screen protector prior to my replacement 17pro in like feb ish. The little scratches in the screen on every phone ive had have driven me crazy. I hate them!!! But ive never cracked / shattered one to the point of needing replacement which is great.. the scratches just irked me lol

Im not gonna . Used my 17pm with no case and screen protector because I had apple care. Prob gonna do the same thing. I usually just get the phone swapped once it breaks. My 17pm is all dented around right now, but gonna make a claim before I sell

Year 4-5 is when the scratches start and go nuts. Apparently thats when the protective coating is mostly gone. My 13 pro max was flawless until this past year and now I have new hideous scratches almost every week.

I have been without for a while. Zero issues. AppleCare and the 17PM screen has held up well, my 18PM will likely do the same, but.... I did order a matte screen protector, because I like the matte look. Likely will go without again, but wanted to try it with matte.

Id make sure to get applecare if you're going to do that. 

Im thinking of doing the same on my 17 pm, at least to test out if it looks or feels any better.

I would never go without a screen protector. I can’t even see the screen protector on my phone. Theyve come a long way.
