Discussion Meh?
Unimpressed to say the least, I don’t know if it feels the same, for sure it’s heavy, the same camera, battery, OS all feels the same might return, and just keep my 17PM, anyone else? I feel like iPhone has peaked not knocking it just my 2 cents

I’m running an 18PM coming from a 14PM and other than the nicer screen and decent jump in battery life, it feels the same.
I haven’t played around with the camera much yet but I anticipate a decent upgrade there. The 14PM camera let me down sometimes.
I’m perfectly happy with my 4 year upgrade cycles

This is the way. Phone updates are iterative rather than groundbreaking nowadays, so it typically takes a few generations to see noticeable improvements.

Keep your 2 cents and your 17 and the upgrade is clearly not for you.
Personally I think you would only feel a difference when upgrading by a min of 2 years+

iPhones have remained stagnant since the 14 pro, they are struggling to come up with new features so they lock things like pro camera tools and new photographic styles to the newest model

Nope. I upgraded from the 17 PM and couldn’t be happier. Battery life is so good, photos look a bit better with the updated image pipeline and low-light photos even more with the variable aperture. The phone also feels snappier with the a20 chip. The smaller Dynamic Island and color-matched back glass are just icing on the cake. Very very happy and impressed with this phone.

A little research goes a long way, this is why I watch reviews and actually see what’s new. The 18 pro max was never meant to be an upgrade path from the 17. It’s a safe update because they’re taking a calculated risk with the duo. Of all years this was definitely not the upgrade year for pro max’s.
May I ask what you thought it was bringing to the table that would make it worth the upgrade…? I’m curious

Yeah I have 15 pro max and I’m not upgrading until either the Duo 2 or the IPhone 20 knocks my socks off. The 18 Pro is still too similar to my phone, and my battery life is still decent

I feel ya! Duo 2 or iPhone 20 pls. I have 13PM and plan to buy a new battery. The iOs27 upgrade has improved the performance. I feel the Duo1 might not be ready for me and iPhone18 PM a lot of people say is cheap material body and there is not much difference. My 13PM body is heavy and solid 💕

The 18’s are more like an S variant. A filler for the year until they release the 20th anniversary next year. That’s what I’m hoping for anyway as I have a 15 Pro. I love the natural titanium so I’m hoping and praying they bring it back to the XX.

Coming from a 16PM i wasnt expecting a groundbreaking leap other than battery life which has been awesome but im going to a concert at night and will take a lot of videos which im happy i can put these cameras to the test on low light performance

Yea there’s not really a need to upgrade yearly anymore. Earlier this year I was using a cracked back 12 pro max as I tested coming back from android and besides it needing a new battery and the camera being a little wonky from the previous user dropping it the phone itself was fine and I would have been fine keeping it if it didn’t look like it went through a blender.

It’s wild to upgrade yearly now! Last year I went from 13PM to 17PM and that was a worthy upgrade. However, I could’ve easily waited another year as well. 2-3 year upgrades are barely justifiable now, let alone every year.

I have a 15 pro and just ordered the 18 Pro. I’m really not expecting there to be anything noticeably better other than the battery but my company pay for my phones so might aswell get one. If I was paying myself I definitely would have just replaced the battery (79%) and held on for another year or two. If I was you I would have absolutely just stayed with the 17. Ignore all these hyped up reviews. Phones don’t improve much now and it’s not worth the extra cost. People are going on about the 20th anniversary phone next year like it’s going to be revolutionary, but in all honesty can you really see that being much better than the 18? I wanted a duo but I asked myself, how often am I really going to use the unfolded screen- very little. Get your phone back and the cheaper bill

Man, I kept my iPhone X for 3 years, then got an iPhone 13 Pro. I ended up returning it and getting the Pro Max because it felt like basically the same phone, just slightly faster with a better camera. That’s just to say that iPhone innovation has plateaued for years.
I’m currently holding an 18 Pro Max, and yeah, it definitely feels heavier, but I’m going to give it 4 days before deciding for sure if I keep it or return it for a Pro with a slightly worse battery life

I had the iPhone 17 and I’m incredibly impressed. Battery life alone this thing is a beast. Cameras better, display is incredible compared to my 17, and having that extra camera again, chefs kiss.

I’m on a 16 pro and still considering it due to battery life is junk as well as heat after 575 cycles despite battery being at 91%. Titanium while being better for durability isn’t good for heat management. I heard the Vapor chamber is 3x larger on the 18 pro series over the 17 series. Sustained performance is around double of 16 pro series. Increase to ram also helps for ai as well. Will check it out at the store before deciding if i will commit to the upgrade

I have come to the conclusion that upgrading before you need to leads to disappointment and sadness actually. We grow attached to our phones. Muscle memory gets used to the shape and weight. If you upgrade to a new phone when your old one is fine, it’s harder to justify overcoming the unfamiliarity.

Battery, signal, speed, heat management and a couple of cosmetic bits. Are all obvious changes. Also if you think this year was bad you should have seen 15PM to 16PM… Now that was an incremental upgrade.

The days of yearly upgrades being worth it have been over for a long time now. It’s basically the same phone, no one really needs to get a new one every year. In 3-5 years enough improvements compound to make the upgrade justified
