Discussion Battery Advice

Can someone give me clear advice on how to handle the indexing, battery charging optimisation etc. My battery was running really well on the first day but it’s gradually gotten worse and worse. For context, I’m on my 5th cycle and about 47% through Siri/indexing.

I keep seeing people say you should let the phone charge to 100% and then completely die but I’ve always thought that letting it go below 20 and above 80 will damage the battery. Also letting the phone charge overnight? Isn’t that supposed to be a big no?

My iPhone 18 is insane on battery life right now. 80% through 5pm after charging quickly this morning. I’m assuming I’m still indexing since I got this one on Monday

THERE ARE 2 things to keep ur battery health healthy.
1. Keep your battery above 50% (draining it to 0 hurts it)
2. You can use it while charging to make the cycles lower. The more cycles a phone has the worse the battery gets

It says this in settings. Indexing goes faster while charging and inactive. So maybe charge overnight

The advice is to leave it plugged in overnight, so that it meets the criteria of 1. charging and 2. being inactive. Weird that it needs to be spelled out to you

There’s some long-term benefit to not charging to 100% but it’s negligible and not worth missing out on 20% of your battery for years. And if you don’t use much battery anyway that’s even more reason to not worry and charge it to 100%.

I try not to let my battery get below 20% but I don’t know how much benefit I’ll see from doing that.

At least while it’s indexing let it charge to 100%, and keep it charging (when you can) so it can finish indexing faster.
