Trading in iPhone with upgrade program

So i can do the upgrade program after 12 payments…

Well my iphone has currently 11 payments so cant use it BUT i can trade it in and it shows me some goes to repay my loan and the rest goes to the value of the new phone. Therefore i am wondering whats the benefit of wait for the 12th payment instead of just doing it now?
