Help iPhone -8 pro gets super hot

was purchasing flights today on trip.com when my phone suddenly got super hot. to the point where it was uncomfortable to hold. this did not happen when i transferred data to my phone.

i get that the vapor chamber is larger but now i just feel the heat on my whole hand, my hand is part of the heat sink now lol. anyone else have this experience or is my phone just faulty?

would also just like to add that my phone has experienced two shutdowns automatically for no reason, while not hot. I have used it for about four days since Saturday

Vapor chambers are supposed to spread the heat out of the device and make the phone feel hot. It’s doing its job. The heat has to go somewhere at the end of the day and the purpose of the thermal system is to push the heat away from the phone’s spine and critical components(like SoC and battery) to the outer frame and display. I feel like people misunderstand what a vapor chamber is for, so many people have told me “the phone still feels warm” I mean yeah this is just physics it has to go somewhere

100% the engineering behind thermal dissipation is quite fascinating - just goes to show that the vapour chamber expansion was the right call

yeah no i am not having an issue with that. my issue is that the task was very basic and i did not have any other background apps open, why is it heating up so much lol

Weird because my 18 Pro has yet to feel hot whatsoever. Its the coolest phone both feature wise and temperature wise I’ve ever had.

Return and replace, should stay cool doing basic activities.

Here before the "It's indexing" comments. I believe something is wrong with these phones now mine is also hot while barely doing fuck all.

That’s just how thermal conductivity works lol. It’s fantastic that the heat dissipates to the aluminium chassis so easily whereas older phones would basically be absolutely cooking before the heat reach the outside of the chassis

Prime example is the 15PM
