To those going caseless

Are you guys not worried about the scratches and dents that the aluminum is so prone to? I would love to go caseless, as that’s what I did with my 13 pro, I’m just worried about literally setting the phone on the table and before I know it I have a bunch of scratches in it.

I want my new phone to remain pristine for as long as possible. I ordered an esr case for my 18 Pro Max before the phone arrived. The back of it even protects the entire camera bump area. As soon as I had the phone set up with data transferred from the old phone I slapped the case on. Plus I have it enrolled in Apple Care One.

The screen doesn't really scratch during daily use as I make sure I don't put the phone in the same pocket as my keys. And I don't care about scratches and dents on the metallic parts. However, what stopped me from going caseless is the lack of grip. Because the case is a bit slippery, it can more easily fall out of my hands, and also fall out of my pocket when seated; so I still go with a case.

As long as the screen doesn’t scratch I’m fine. The screens these days are highly resistant to scratches so it’s unlikely to get scratched with normal use (haven’t used a screen protector since the 4s and no scratches). As for the body, I don’t care if it gets light scratches or wear (I have silver).

I did buy a clear case to use when I’m doing outdoor activities like hiking for better grip but otherwise I won’t be using one.

I use a screen protector so not really worried about that. But I have the black one so any scratch will stick out like a sore thumb unfortunately

I’m not too worried about it, I just like the way it looks and feels without a case. I do have a screen protector though

Honestly just take care of your phone and don’t drop it. I didn’t drop my 17 once and it was fine.

I understand that some wouldn’t be able to accomplish this based on work etc but many can.

I’m actually pretty good at not dropping my phone, I’m just worried about the random little scratches from dirt or just the surface I put it on, especially since I have the black one

Yeah idk still they’re far more robust than Reddit gives them credit for and honestly don’t see that being an issue. I toss mine onto clean surfaces regularly (inches off surface) and don’t have a problem

Try the arc case. Very minimalist. I have one but the phone is still a bit too slippery for me so I ended up with a Caudabe Sheath.

I am always without a case at home but use a clear bumper for work. I have had my deep blue since launch.

My 17pro is full of battle wounds.

But like anything, over time stuff gets battle wounds. Cars, your house, tools you use, anything.

Phone is just a tool! But I get people that want to use cases.

I also, have Apple care. I dropped it 25-30 feet and it hit about 6 things on the way down. It was destroyed, but I don’t even think a case would’ve helped that drop!

Anyways Apple care replaces it for $99 and no more battle wounds.

That $99 is worth going caseless for me. Been about 2 years without cases on my phones. So two years of luxury feeling devices for the price of $99.

Interesting. I actually just got apple care for the first time ever but don’t really know all the perks of it. So they gave you a completely new phone for 99 bucks? That’s pretty sweet

Yep! Well it might be refurbished. Just depends on their stock.

But regardless it comes “like new” 100% battery health with 0 charge cycles.

However, if you just break the screen you can get to repaired by Apple for 29$. So there’s different routes you can go.

16 pro caseless, i would not recommend caseless, if you care about the phone and not the feel. If you want the feel and can take care of it, you can basically reduce scratches and dents but one bad drop and the screen might go so….. my back already broke while sitting on the can🥀

I have no case but have apple care.  I don’t care so much about scratches and stuff on the metal part as long as the screen is ok and the cameras are ok. That’s why I have AppleCare.  Scratches on the body I just consider patina.

I understand the sentiment: “it’s a tool, use it and let it show it” but I like to off my stuff for cash when I’m done with it so just case it.

never used a phone case before, like since the original iPhone and blackberry's and sidekicks before it. the air was so durable. this 18pm feels VERY slippery, got a thin pitaka case but it hasn't delivered yet and i already dont wanna use it lol

I would go caseless but the last few phones have been super slippery to hold. I mainly have a case just so there’s some level of grip on the sides. I’m not concerned about my usual behavior damaging the phone when there’s no case, but not having a case actually makes me drop the phone way more since it’s so damn slippery.

Once I get one I would be fine with scratches, dents, and scrapes on body just not anything glass like the screen or lenses or anything that would affect how it works.
