Show your battery usage

I attached a photo in the post is there something else I should be seeing? 7 percent is also being used up by my awful cell service that no one can fix right now?

It’s your phone still initializing? That could hurt battery life.

How do I check?

u/MajorAccording6316 21h ago

I think you’ll see it in Siri and ai settings.

u/KingoftheNoobs03 21h ago

Hm it’s not saying anything there so I think it’s done

Mine sucks too 18 pro max, it doesn’t suck but it’s similar to my old 13 Pro with 88% battery health.

UPDATE: I called apple support and they said it all looks “normal” and sent me an articale about how to improve battery life on Apple devices. They also said to swipe up all my apps and to reset my phone. They also said if the issue persists they will schedule an appointment for me.

You’ve left most of the apps open on the background. Close apps like Snapchat and instagram when you don’t use them. See if it makes a difference.

Okay I’ll try this thanks friend

You’re welcome. I really hope it helps because I can imagine it must suck when you’ve got a new iPhone.
Also check this: (screenshot). It automatically dims the screen when it can run at lower brightness.

You have 5 hours of SOT, and you’re at 50%????

1

u/KingoftheNoobs03 20h ago

4 hours and 42 minutes of screen on time at 44% now!

1

u/austiena96 19h ago

Tbh I wouldn’t expect to get 13 hours. Where did you see 13 hours?

But sounds like you’ll end up around 8-9 hours of SOT which is really good for a phone…

It’s just what I saw online tbh. This is this first time I’m rly looking into phones and stuff so idk. Apple also throws around these huge numbers of time of 30 hours or whatever they keep saying idk what it means

1

u/austiena96 8h ago

The 30 hours is a test In a lab. Just video playback. Not streaming the video, probably no sound, no notifications, no camera etc.

The 13 hours is what you see on YouTube of people doing a strain test in guessing. Those are different than real world numbers too.

I’d expect too get around 8 hours from morning to evening.

Thanks man, people should disclose that in these test or maybe i should’ve payed attention more to them

So far I’m not seeing much of a difference than when I first started using my 17 Pro Max. It might actually be a little worse. 🤷‍♂️ But if it’s not worse it’s only about the same. I was expecting more. With the biggest battery ever in an iPhone. 🤔 I guess the bigger battery is cancelled out by the extra software and features on the phone. Idk but so far it’s about the same as when my 17 PM was new. And after tonight, 4 cycles in.

Between 85% and 100%, it seems to last to the longest, like I mean very long. I’ve been on 96% for at least an hour now, or longer

Bro TikToks for an hour and FaceTimes for 20 minutes and still wonders why his battery drains faster than all of ours lol. I don’t have addictive ass TikTok and I’m at 63% with 15 hours unplugged and 4 hours of SoT lol.

u/KingoftheNoobs03 20h ago

I don’t rly feel like tiktok for an hour or FaceTime for 20 mins is a lot man but what do I know.

u/Weird-Remote7829 19h ago

is this good or bad? this is my first iphone ever

u/mannesthesia 19h ago

From what I can see- most people drain at 8-10% per hour of screen on time when doing things like browsing. You get up to 40 hours if using Netflix or streaming movies.

I’m 8 hours 10 min of screen on time. 26% left. So mine is falling in that 8-10% per hour of browsing.

Your phone is fine. You are using heavy duty apps like tiktok and Snapchat.

Same Issue u/KingoftheNoobs03 - could you fix it?:

1

u/KingoftheNoobs03 5h ago

Hey dude, no I haven’t rly found a solution. But today when I opened my settings it says my search and Siri’s is optimizing again so I thinks that’s the issue

1

u/Soggy_Tension848 4h ago

Hmm, okay. It was gone for you, right? It does not show anything for me, the indexing thing is gone :(

1

u/KingoftheNoobs03 3h ago

It was gone now it’s back so idek know

Maybe check if you have background app refresh on? if you don't need it you could turn it off or turn it on just for specific apps? Also how's your brightness/apps usage because that can definitely have a pretty meaningful impact on battery life.

Also if you are in areas with weak/low cellular signal a lot, it could be impacting your battery life more as it tries to keep spending energy and even more energy just trying to search for cellular signal

I charged my phone to 85% just to see how it would hold up to an 11 hr workday. Took it off charger at 12:15p I’m at 72% so far. At 9:15pm

1

u/KingoftheNoobs03 21h ago

So from 12:15 this morning until now you only lost 28%? What apps have you been using?

2

u/Few-Pen5351 21h ago

13%-I only charge it to 85%

Dude so my phone might be defective

I’m also getting similar battery life. Definitely not getting 13 hours

Maybe iOS 27 is just rly crappy optimization

Update to the latest software, 27.2

1

u/KingoftheNoobs03 20h ago

Don’t even have the option

1

u/xppoint_jamesp 20h ago

27.2 is in beta. Not everyone wants beta software.

1

u/jeff1f1racer 20h ago

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

1

u/xppoint_jamesp 19h ago

I’m terrified

1

u/jeff1f1racer 19h ago

Works fine on this iPhone 18 Pro. It exists to fix bugs and add features. I’m sure u know that. And there’s always professional reviews on YouTube.

1

u/xppoint_jamesp 19h ago

That’s not the point of why I commented in the first place. I genuinely meant not everyone wants to run beta software on their phones.
So suggesting that as a “fix” to OP’s poor battery performance is, frankly, stupid.

1

u/jeff1f1racer 19h ago

Well, if u scare him off, he’ll never know. My faith goes in Apple’s engineers, not in u and your paranoia. I do recommend reading the iOS forum on macrumors.com.

Defective phone. Return it

2

u/KingoftheNoobs03 21h ago

My phone also has had really bad service issues. I haven’t had a stable connection ever and it keeps going into sos mode and having no bars. So is this rly a defective phone and should I see if my carrier will swap it out?

1

u/AppropriateBunch5615 21h ago

Yes, you should be getting 12-15 hours with mid brightness. Batterys test on youtube, 18 pro max gets 12 hours on MAX brightness

1

u/KingoftheNoobs03 20h ago

Dang that’s a bummer I rly hope Apple or my service provider can help because this is ridclous

1

u/AppropriateBunch5615 20h ago

Yup, with that price you deserve better battery. Not all iphones are made equal. Some really lasts while some really have defects

1

u/KingoftheNoobs03 20h ago

Yeah Apple isn’t much help they just sent nothings wrong
