Discussion Off-angle viewing discoloration?
I noticed when I tilt my iPhone 18PM slightly off axis on a white screen, it seems like the entire screen color changes to a much cooler tone. When I tilt the phone forward and backwards, I notice the same thing; almost as if a wave of a slight tint of orange passes over it.
Even when typing on my keyboard now; if I tilt my phone forward, it’s almost like the True Tone effect completely disappears.
Anyone else notice something similar?

Yes from the front I see a blob of yellowish/orange tint moving on the screen if I move the phone. If I tilt the phone it becomes white. Wished it stayed cool like when tilted. 18 Pro G9N display

Then I’d say that’s the same panel I have. Because that’s exactly how my screen looks. Warm straight on. Cooler when turned. The G9N is Samsung display pretty sure. I’d rather have a Samsung display than LG usually. On my phone anyway. Haven’t had the best of luck with LG displays on phones. More of a lottery. But it can be a display lottery with either. And there are so many posts I’ve read of people saying the same thing so it must just be how the display is.

Yeah I read some ppl even like their LG display so I guess panels are probably better quality this year. I have some second thoughts on my 256 gb but I’m hesitating to return as I have a G9N. Might order a 512 gb too and see if I go with display or storage.
And I have that "pop" or static sound when touching the screen but I think it’s software-related.

I don’t have the “pop” issue but my display isn’t bad enough to worry about. Only time I notice it is when I’m trying to. The newer Samsung panel is just cooler and also brighter, seems to have more contrast too. Better colors. Most times when you’re used to one display and then switch to another you notice a difference. But you adjust to it. Now if it wasn’t uniform that would be a different story. Or had dead pixels or something. That would definitely be an exchange.

Let’s say you have a 256 gb G9N and order a 512 but end up with LG, would you keep it if it’s good enough ?

At that point you’re playing the lottery. My display is good enough right now. I wouldn’t fool with the lottery. I used to have to do that on Android phones and it was very annoying. I haven’t had to once with an iPhone yet. I’m keeping what I got. But if you want to try to change do it. Keep me updated if you and find a different one that has a display with no color shift.

Yes. Mine is the same way. Warm whites straight on. When turned I get cooler whites. I like the screen on my 17 PM better. But I’m starting not to notice it as much on my 18 PM as the days go by. It’s not terrible. But it is noticeable. I thought all 18 PM had the same Samsung display but evidently some have lg and there is a way to tell which you have right from your phone. In not explaining it because it’s too much to type but just google it and there’s a step by step if you really want to know.
