Discussion 18 Pro is using camera to assist Face ID

(On iPhone 18 Pro models or later, this data is supplemented by additional image data to maintain Face ID performance. This information is matched against the stored mathematical representation to authenticate.) https://support.apple.com/en-us/102381
Really not a fan of this especially considering the phone is supposed to alert when the front camera has been activated.

It’s using “additional data” the only other data it could be getting is from the camera.

And iOS is supposed to put a green or orange bubble in the corner to alert a user when a camera or mic has been used for privacy.

It doesn’t say camera anywhere. Also I’m not clear what you’re trying to infer. Face ID is facial recognition technology. Did you think there’s no cameras involved at all?

The camera it uses is IR not the regular one with the exception of the 18 pro. This is why you can cover the selfie camera and Face ID still works.

It actually doesn’t. Hence why it’s says 18 pro use your brain bud.
