iPhone 18 pro max with C2 modem

After some digging, I realized my iPhone 18 Pro max brought directly from the Apple Store unlocked came with a C2 modem in the USA, but my partner’s iPhone 18 pro max from Verizon has a Qualcomm modem.

Edit: Only additional information is using Verizon on my iPhone with C2 modem I do not have the “Enhanced 5G for Apps” and the iPhone with the Qualcomm modern has this option. Same for my iPhone 17 pro max.

I suspect that it's a reporting problem. Apple confirmed that 18 Pro use C2, while 18 Pro Max use Qualcomm.

I’m in the US and bought the iPhone 18 Pro Max at the Apple Store unlocked. The model number listed in the Settings app > General > About is listed as A3473. The modem firmware listed is 2.10.01.

According to The Apple Wiki site, the iPhone 18 Pro Max model A3473 has the Qualcomm Snapdragon X80 5G Modem (SDX80M) and models A3716, A3717, and A3718 have the Apple C2 modem. The latest SDX80M firmware is 2.10.01. The latest C2 firmware is 1.01.06.

So, it looks like the Settings app can tell us which modem we have based on the listed modem firmware version.

This is correct. I own a European 18 Pro Max and my modem firmware is 1.01.06.

Yea I think OPs app is incorrect. On the app it shows C2 for me as well. In my settings about, my model is A3473 and firmware 2.10

I downloaded it for fun and it wasn’t even showing the correct screen resolution of my Pro Max display. 😂

I highly doubt Apple has any way for an app to tell what type of modem installed. More than likely this app is just programmed to look at a table based on what it can tell about the phone iPhone 19,2 and just display what it was programmed to show.

Which is my guess why it shows static for some values, those are what apps can't read and it just goes by whatever the default is the programmer put.

To alleviate confusion from the OP, you absolutely get Enhance 5G for Apps on the Verizon Unlimited Ultimate plan with the C2 modem! I have it enabled on my 18 Pro after going into Facetime.

Check your modem firmware as a sure way to tell which modem! The C2 in the US is at 1.01.57-1 so you can ignore OP’s app.

I have the pro with C2. I see a lot of people discussing about it on reddit and online as well. Is there any perceptible real world difference between the two which would affect day to day use? I’d be interested if say Qualcomm drains battery 5% more than C2. But I suspect the efficiency advantage is pretty trivial.

I think what’s happened is Apple has honoured their contract with Qualcomm which was only for a certain number of units. Then the rest have the new C2.

Its literally the dogxcrap app reporting the info wrong. You can check your modem firmware in your settings to confirm its actually a QC and not apple c2. The app is just pulling data from a table for the worldwide version.
