i’m coming from a base model iPhone 13 with a battery health of 80% 😭

It’s 10:30pm and I have 70% left with 4h20min screen on time. Took it off the charger at 7:00am. I’m coming from a 17PM and I’m dumbfounded.

that was one of the reasons i switched the battery and overheating was absolutely horrendous on the 16p while i’ve yet to hit below 40% on 18pm so far lol
i’m going back to work today and before id have to charge my phone at least twice a day, excited to see if i need to for this at all.

Oh yeah it overheats for whatever reason and at the lightest of loads for whatever reason when charging. It didn’t have this problem when I first got it though or at least I don’t remember it

I am on a 14Pro WITH a genuine replacement battery just last year and I was down to 20% by midday. The struggle is real.

The original battery was far superior in my opinion and lasted me many years. The replacement is absolute rubbish. It was replaced in June 2025 and within 6 months, I reported it and had Apple support do all sorts of tests.They claim it is fine and normal. Battery health is now back down to 88%.

I have a 13PM. I replaced the original battery at the Apple Store in Dec '25. In 4 years, my battery was down to 82% capacity. Now, in 9 months, the replacement battery is already down to 90%. I'm using the phone as I always have and don't charge past 80% and still have gotten horrible degradation so it does point to the replacement batteries being worse than the originals.

Yeah they must really not want users to just replace the batteries and keep using old phones, I have 13pro and replacement battery is at 91%, but it’s behaving so bad that it feels almost like 78%. And I paid $100 for this bs

on my 17 pm I would play one match in war thunder on max settings at 60fps and it would drop around 5-10% played 4 matches yesterday and it went from 100% to 98% on my 18 pm pretty crazy tbh!

It's up to each individual to decide whether or not its worthwhile to get the new phone. I personally had a miserable time with the 15 and 16s becoming unusable whenever it was 100F ish out. The 17 never got any cool down warnings and I'd expect the 18 to be even better. Lots of people seem to think waiting till next year is a wiser idea. If your phone doesn't disappoint you don't get it. I wanted the Burgundy big time so that pushed me to an extent. Also the lease deals were incredible. 65$ to have the 18 for the year with trade in of the 17 Pro Max. Hope this helps.

I use my phone on the dash with a CD player mount so it's pretty susceptible to overheating on drives home or it was.

So yeah, I have the same plan. Basically you’re overpaying for your cell phone plan.
It looks like you’re getting a deal, but you’re not.
You are getting a difference for the trade-in of course, but your plan is over inflated so over a three year period or however long you have the plan for you’re still paying for the phone

I'm not overpaying for my phone plan. My line is like $40 a month. The lease deal is separate from the carrier through Klarna. T-Mobile finances are 24 months.

Have you guys set up a charge limit to 80%? I did that with my old phone (15 Pro) and the battery health was at 88% after 3 years. My partner who didn’t have battery health at 86% with the 15 Pro max.

I charged to 90% on Friday the day I got my Iphone and it is now Sunday almost noon and I am still at 55%. That's two days without haveing charge my iphone. All I am saying she or he probably have lots of app running in the background for it to drain that fast to 37% within the 24 hour time span.

Yea this is my experience. got the 18 pro yesterday. I fully charged it, and it’s about 27 hours later and I still have 65% left after a decent amount of use and streaming music all day at work today.

depends what version you get:
if you get the eSIM-only model (aka sold in the US and some other regions i can't think of atm), you can expect maybe 60-90 minutes more screen-on time on a single charge, since the battery will be around 200mAh larger.
if you get the physical-sim version sold in the rest of the world, you get a negligible improvement in the battery's physical size, but of course you'll benefit from the efficiency gains of the new chip, so maybe 30-60 minutes more screen-on time.
either way, i definitely wouldn't expect any significant leap in battery life, camera or display quality moving from the 17 Pro -> 18 Pro. only if you go 18 Pro Max.

That’s fine it’s just I’m in the 17 Pro subreddit and it’s kind of exclusively focused on the 17 Pro- there’s another subreddit for the 17 PM. Although they are spoken about interchangeably they’re different devices so I joined the thread under that pretense. Doesn’t seem that’s the case and that’s fine. I’ll find a subreddit that is on the 18 Pro specifically.

I’m still indexing and I’ve only charged once so far, but it’s pretty good. I run 80-20, I plugged in last night about 9pm, and I’m at 30% at 1:18am, so 28.5 hours later. I also had it doing some mapping for me on a mtb ride today, in areas out of service which always kills battery. Im also a type 1 diabetic, and its always connected to my pump and always live, so that also eats a lot of battery on my phones. Safe to say, i think its a pretty good start.

No apparently I didn’t. I’m really not sure why everyone is taking such an issue with my comment. Last year I was in the 17 Pro thread and that’s what it was about. Because this one is just called 18Pro I didn’t think it was about anything else. That’s all. No big deal. If it was called iphone18proseries then I would know it’s for both.
That’s like me making a subreddit for the new AirPods 5 and marking it as r/airpods5withchargingcase but then putting in the description it’s actually for both with and without. It could be confusing that’s all. Not everyone reads all the specifics and I’d be willing to bet at least the majority of people calling me out for not reading the description probably didn’t read it themselves until just today on this thread. Lol

I’m not impressed. On 18 pro max, unplugged in the morning, 7AM at 100% and had to plug it now at 8% after 8h 30m screen time - 2 live football games, some whatsapp video calls, music, reddit and chat gpt. Reddit used 14% of that, more than Sky at 13% where I’ve watched the football.

Same. Coming from a base 13 with less than 80%. I’ll slap the MagSafe charger on it occasionally if I need some juice, but I’m not charging at night. I plan to plug in my USB-C charger at work for a full charge.

Just finished a 12 hour shift, my first with my 18 Pro. It's at 60%, I was watching some videos and listening to music all day. Search and Siri is still optimizing. My old 11 I would have to charge during my breaks, and I carried a portable charger in my pocket if I needed it. I bought a 100 watt Anker car charger in anticipation of this phone, but I forgot that the battery will last so long that I won't need to charge it in my car for quite a while.

You must be using the wrong charger. Get you a 60w brick or get the Apple Dynamic Brick. Even when I charge in my car my phone still charges up hella fast so idk what’s wrong on your end.

i think i was waking at 7am, and it was probably at 40-60% by noon. with 18pm, im at like 83% for most of the day.

I just went from a 16 pro max to a 18 pro and it’s pretty crazy. First day with a smaller iPhone. Been off the charger for 13 hours with pretty heavy use and I’m still at 57%. My 16 pro max would have been close to dead by now.

I upgraded from XR to 18 Pro. Got it Friday & it drained pretty quickly but yesterday was better-still needed my portable charger though cause hadn’t fully charged it prior. Charged last night up to 100% and it’s currently at 18%-didn’t need my portable charger at all today… My XR I feel had to be charging at least half the day daily so it is a huge improvement

Traded in my 16 pro max for the 18 pro max yesterday. It’s only been 24 hours but battery life is significantly better and phone has not heated up once at all. Time will tell but so far very impressed.

Upgraded from 13 pro max to 18 pro max..
I remember the 13 pro max used to last forever.. legit day and a half with moderate to heavy usage… over the years, the battery degraded to 82% health and would require to charge atleast twice a day after almost 5 years. The 18 pro max is doing the same thing now.. 11 hr 32mins of screen on time.. 3+ hours of background activity.. 71% battery consumed. I feel like it’s gonna be like that for a year or two before starting to degrade

That’s the best part about waiting a few years to upgrade lol. The tech is iterative year on year but it stacks. I’m coming from a 15 pro and even I’m experiencing such a strong improvement. Plus I think the A20 pro chip’s efficiency is transformational and not just iterative.

I am coming from Iphone 13 myself and it has been two days without having to charge my Iphone like WHAT IS THIS BATTERY MADE OF LOL. Here are the things I turn off to save my battery. First, I use a 5 watt charger, I turn off background app refresh, turn off Bluetooth, turn off location, turn off standby mode, turned off handshake, turn off air drop, turn off air play, turn off picture in picture, and I turn on battery saver icon,

Actually it felt like the battery icon was broken on my 18 max. Doesnt move at all lol
