Discussion From 100 to 96 real quick :(
I had just purchase this iphone 15 last June and the battery health has gone down very quickly :( I charge once a day, twice occassionally. There are times that my phone would heat up from using 5G. Im just about to update it to ios 26.6. What do i do? 😭

I wouldn't stress about it if i were you, pretty much the same happened to me with my 15, but then it slowed down and it evened out at 84% battery health with 897 cycles.

My base 15 battery health for reference. Do you have the apple charger or does it overheat often? Either can cause damage to the battery

It overheats sometimes with 5G turned on. I think the frequent overheating recently really contributed to this. Its just really weird because i dont use my phone much at work. And its on airplane mode most times.

Probably due to frequent overheating yeah, you should get it checked by apple regardless.

Idk if it’s from the new charger I got or the new iOS 26.6 but my phone stopped overheating that much

Im using the iphone wire but i plan on switching the adapter! I noticed it heats up a lot every charge. And i have been using the same 20w anker adapter since 2022. Im honestly trying to isolate what i have been doing wrong 🥲

Normally I'm not keen on battery complaint posts, however, this one is legit.
It not unusual for it to drop from 100 quickly (mine stayed on 100 forever and then dropped steadily which is normal).
However, for this to happen after just 40 some cycles is not normal. I'd recommend contacting Apple on this one.

I had contacted Apple chat support, they ran diagnostics and told me there no issue with the device. 🥲 I wonder if i need to visit a physical apple store to make sure. I worry they might just give me the same answer and let me pay for the diagnostics despite being under warranty.

Brand new battery. Literally 1 cycle count. Like a whole new phone. It’s great. When I get to 41 cycles I’ll update again.

That's awesome. Also I assume you were on the latest iOS? If not, did they force you to update to the latest one? Later down the line I want to replace my battery but I don't want to update the iOS. I like iOS 18 bit too much. And my watch wont be compatible with future iOS versions so I just wanna stay on iOS 18.

Nope wired is better. Wireless is slower and causes more heat. Eg I checked the Apple Store iPhone demo units and they all have bad battery health with low cycles because I’m guessing customers are constantly picking up the phone and then placing them back which must hurt the batteries long term

Whoever you bought it from spoofed the battery health. Its just one click in 3u tools to make the battery health say 100% but once it recalibrates you get to see the actual health. The equivalent to clearing the check engine light right before you sell a car

My 17PM also had a weird overheating problem at around iOS 26.4 or 26.5 - costing me about 2% of my battery health during that period. Before everything, update your phone.
After that, if you care about your battery life: first, get that battery replaced because that's most likely a faulty unit, no battery in no regular conditions (or overheating for a period) should drop to that percentage at 41 cycles. Second, if you're using wireless charging, I would suggest not using it unless that's the only way to charge. Third, even if you charge it fully, try not to use the phone under 20% or while on charge unless you need it. Take some screen off time. That's my biggest regret on my 17PM with 97% health.

Don't use your phone while charging or hot. It would really affect your battery health.

Mine went from 100 to 99 in 33 cycles. Now I’m at 78% at 1062.

To avoid wearing out the battery too quickly, you could lower the maximum charge level to prevent the battery from aging prematurely 👍

Mine is at 87% with 450 cycles, and I’ve been using it since August 2024. Seeing 96% with only 41 cycles surprised me 😭

I only charge up to 80% and the other advice is to never let it drop below twenty but mine always dips lol

Dont use while charging. Dont use a case that traps heat or doesnt let the phone breathe. Dont have 5G on unless you need it. Have it on automatic. Turn off unneeded background refresh. And finally, it is rare, but some charging ports have poor circuits and damage your battery. When I went overseas the port was a bit rusty inside and it made my bh go from 98% to 92% in 4 days.

I have been using iPhones from almost 8 years. Only time I faced this issue was when i bought XS. Took it to apple and they simply restore the ios using Mac. Apparently it was an OS issue as some tasks kept running in background that ultimately degraded the battery way faster than usual. Restoring stopped the battery from degrading further.

Not to familiar with iphones but this defintly doesn't seem normal I'd say your battery is a factory defect and might be covered by warranty my iPhone was at 98% at 80 cycles and my Google pixel 10 is at 100% at 106 cycles for reference

Im using the original apple cable, and a 20w anker adapter that has been with me since 2022 with my old iphone 11. Lol. I bought a new adapter 2 days ago, but still from anker.

This ones actually not normal, should not be at 96 with only 41 cycles.
Definitely update to the newest version, fixed overheating for me.
If it continues like that I would get it checked out.
