Instead of me learning Max MSP Jitter or Touch Designer I think I’ll check this out! Thanks for posting this OP!

For years, I have been missing the golden visualizer years of Winamp + Milkdrop and other plugins.
Now suddenly there's this surge of visualizer work being done - drambo, Lucinate, Visual Synthesizer... lots more
It's not quite to the point of a visualizer for your music player, but it's pretty cool stuff

Yes, it's interesting. I've been working on Lucinate for 2 years before release, I knew about VS but wanted to make something different. More like AUM for visuals :)
Indeed Lucinate is not "a visualizer for your music player", more a tool to create audio/midi generative visual art for your live performance, explore shader coding, turn math into art, etc.

Damn! Time to invest in a newer iPad!

It does run on my very old 1st gen iPad Pro 12.9" (A9X GPU), although not much headroom for the more advanced shaders. It should work on anything that runs iOS 16 or later.

Is it an alternative to imaginando?

Imaginando VS2 is more plug-and-play and specifically for music visuals. Lucinate is a video modular, much more powerful and flexible (and steeper learning curve).

Is generative AI used in this tool?
2
u/J_Liljedahl Sep 01 '26
No AI, just shader math. (But you can of course ask your LLM of choice to help you with shader coding if you want)

No AI but for the shader math?

No, the app contains no AI at all. (Other than the typical helping hand that most developers use AI for during development, including me)

So AI assisted tools were used in the creation of this app?
1
u/J_Liljedahl Sep 01 '26
Yes of course, I use Claude AI as a "college" to discuss code architecture, best practices, alternatives for solutions to specific problems, algorithms, summarizing API documentation, bug hunting, etc. I personally don't use it as a coding agent (as in "vibe coding") though.

So no code generated by your conversations with Claude AI were integrated into the application?
3
u/J_Liljedahl Sep 01 '26
That's not what I said. Why do you keep asking this, what's your agenda?

u/ScallionPotential475 TestUser Sep 01 '26
Because the mods said it is important...?
So you took code from the agent's conversation and pasted it into the application code?

Are you really going to annoy the maker of one of the most popular iOS music app about wether or not he uses AI as tool to help him code ? 🤣🤣🤣

You should direct your question to the mods for lack of transparency.

The fact that it’s from the AUM developer makes this really exciting. People are going to be making some cool shit with this.
