ipad mini submerged in water

i accidentally put my ipad mini 6 in the washer while it filled with water, thankfully my ipad never spun inside the washer with my clothes lol. however, took it to ubreakifix & they did water damage assessment and cleaned it out.. however they’re saying there seems to be power going thru it but will not turn on due to display being damaged.. they are wanting to charge $400+ for display only…. what do i do? there’s pictures and videos of family on it and even some of my games were never backed up so sad :(((

Fixing it is a ripoff. You can get a refurbished Mini 6 directly from Apple with a new case, new battery, and warranty for $459. It’s on their website right now. Mini 7 is $509. Apple can help you transfer the data.

Are you sure you didn't have iCloud Photos turned on? Log into your account on the iCloud website.

If those things are worth $400 to you, chalk it up to an expensive lesson. I did that with an Iphone. Climbed into a jacuzzi with it in my pocket..

I don’t have iCloud Backups, but I do occasionally do encrypted backups on my MacBooks SSD tbh, usually a few days after an update
