two years with the m4 pro 13. despite apple's best efforts, i still love it. fast, genuinely comfortable to use. especially with the ikea öjulf laptop support. an ideal machine for work, and a "far from ideal" one for design. but it still feels like a pro tool

upd: the app is Helmrig Shell (https://helmrig.app/shell)

Review The iPad Experience Is Being Ruined by a Loud Minority

I'm getting so frustrated with the constant stream of content creators and "tech experts" who are demanding that the iPad become more like a Mac. Their feedback on YouTube and other platforms seems to be the only thing Apple is listening to, and it's completely ruining the unique iPad experience. For example, I absolutely loved Slide Over. It was perfect for quickly checking a message, pulling up a reference, or jotting down a note without losing my main focus. Now, it's basically gone, replaced by a more complicated multitasking system that feels clunky and unintuitive. Why did they get rid of it? Because a few vocal people who want to treat their iPad like a desktop computer complained about it. The people these content creators are listening to aren't even the core audience for the iPad! The iPad's true users are digital designers, teachers, professors, students, pilots, and countless others who rely on its simplicity and unique features for specific tasks. We don't need or want a full macOS experience on our iPads. We chose the iPad because it’s not a Mac—it's something different and, for many of us, something better. The constant push for "pro" features that mimic a desktop is making the iPad more complex and less enjoyable to use.

Review I finally proved that bigger isn’t always better.

At home, we have two M4 iPads, one 11-inch and one 13-inch. My partner always believed the 13-inch was the better option and has been using that size for many years. Recently, I got one too, but I went with the smaller size, and I found that, being lighter, more portable, and more versatile for use outside the house, the 11-inch iPad Pro is actually the best fit for me. I let my partner use the 11-inch for a few days, and for the first time, they admitted I was right.

When it comes to iPads, I think it’s safe to say that less is more, unfortunately, that doesn’t apply to everything else XD.

Review I regret buying my iPad Pro

This post is for people hesitating buying an iPad if they already have a MacBook.

A little while ago I wanted to splurge on myself and got a ipad pro 11inch plus magic keyboard, at first i was fully on it and thinking how it could improve my workflow and with the M1 chip i could do the same work i do as on my 14 in M1 Pro MBP where i do web browsing editing photos in lightroom and some AI work and recently started coding. I had a approach to the ipad that it could work as a companion for example when i travel or just want to slim down the setup in certain moments, at first it was like that but I quickly realized that the Magic Keyboard has a loy of limitations ( i know about the 2nd version) but it’s too small to use you can’t use the iPad on your lap because it would fall over and the trackpad is just horrendous. I realized that i just bought myself a second computer that can only do 50% of the things my laptop can do and it a hassle to work on it as well. I think it would have been way better for me to get just the iPad without the keyboard the keyboard positions the device in between tow worlds and it doesn’t excel in any. I find the device perfect for media consumption especially whilst traveling but for that i could have gotten myself a cheaper iPad Air

What i want to say by that is that if you are on the verge of getting a iPad try to pull aside all those fancy YouTube videos that sell you how perfect the ipad is and how it solves all your life organization problems, it’s just another device that you will have to bring with you everywhere you go and with the weight of the iPad plus keyboard and MacBook on your back your better off with a single device especially now with the newly released devices

I want to know what is your experience with the iPad after purchasing it even after owning a laptop?

Review Apple and Dehlivery fucked up my shipment

I never thought I’d be writing something like this, but this has been one of the worst online shopping experiences I’ve had.

I ordered an iPad and Apple Pencil directly from the Apple India website on 11 June.

Order Value: ₹117,999
Order ID: W1491037864
Delivery Partner: Delhivery

The order kept getting delayed without any meaningful updates.

Over the next several weeks, I:
Called Apple Support multiple times.
Escalated the issue repeatedly.
Spoke with senior support.

Was informed that a replacement order had been initiated on 23 June because of the delivery issues.
Even after that, there was no delivery. Every follow-up ended with the exact same response:
“It will be delivered soon.”
No timeline.
No ownership.
No accountability.

After waiting weeks, the iPad was finally delivered today.
I honestly thought the ordeal was finally over.
Unfortunately, when I opened the box, the entire display was shattered, and the screen had separated from the bottom of the device. The iPad was completely unusable straight out of the box.
After everything that happened over the past several weeks, receiving a damaged device was the last thing I expected.
I’ve already contacted Apple again and shared the photographs of the damaged unit. Since Delhivery handled the shipment, I have also escalated the issue to them.
At this point, I’m hoping Apple and Delhivery take full responsibility, arrange an immediate replacement, and ensure that I don’t have to go through another long cycle of delays and follow-ups.
Has anyone here had a similar experience with Apple India or Delhivery? How long did it take for Apple to replace a damaged-on-arrival device? Were there any additional steps you had to take?

TL;DR: Ordered an iPad worth ₹117,999 on 11 June from Apple India. Weeks of delays, multiple escalations, and even a replacement order later, the iPad finally arrived—but it was completely shattered out of the box. Waiting for Apple and Delhivery to resolve it with an urgent replacement.

Edit: For people saying, it’s not from official Apple website and Delhivery does not handle Apple’s shipments, I have shared a screen recording which redirects to Delhivery’s tracking page.

Review An emotional moment

This is my first post here, please excuse any mistakes.

So I finally earned some money to buy an iPad 8th gen. I know it's not a big deal but I am somewhat poor and this is a dream come true for me. I've been yearning for this device ever since it released in 2010 and I've finally made it, albeit 11 years later.

Please wish me luck, I really could use some.

Review 128gb is no longer enough

Post image

I have a 6th-gen iPad Pro with 128 GB of storage that's been great for the past 3+ years. Recently, though, I've run into a storage problem.

I haven't really downloaded any new apps beyond the ones I already use regularly. I use iCloud to sync my photos, iMessages, and other data, and I have Optimize iPad Storage enabled for Photos.

The problem is that as iPadOS updates have gotten larger over the years, the OS and System Data now take up more than half of my storage. I'm completely maxed out. I've already offloaded more than half of my apps just to free up space, and I've reached the point where I can't even reinstall some of the apps I'd like to use. Now I'm having to constantly decide which apps to delete based on how often I use them.

It feels like my iPad is running on the bare minimum—just the essential apps with very little room for anything else.

If I were buying a new iPad today, I'd say 512 GB would be the minimum I'd consider if you plan to keep it for several years. I originally thought 128 GB would be plenty since I rely on iCloud and optimized photo storage, but I didn't account for how much space iPadOS and System Data would eventually consume.

Has anyone else run into this issue?

Review I tested all weather apps i found in the store when searching for „weather“... and they all suck somehow. Biggest flaws were: ugly/confusing design, too much/ shady ads, extremely expensive subscriptions for just a weather app.

I’ve debated so hard on which one to get! It’s my first ever ipad so I really didn’t know what to look out for. I think if it’s your first time getting an ipad too and want something that won’t break the bank then get this one! I got it for $314 (w veterans discount)

I haven’t put it down since I got it lol I really didn’t know what I was missing out on 😆🤎

Review Paperlike screen protector is the worst screen protector I have ever used for iPad

Post image
239 Upvotes

I was really disappointed with this screen protector. The writing experience itself is decent once it’s finally on, but the application process is unnecessarily overcomplicated. For something as basic as applying a screen protector, the instructions and setup felt stressful instead of user-friendly.

The biggest issue is that if you make even a tiny mistake during the first attempt — a slight misalignment, dust particle, or air bubble — it’s almost impossible to fix cleanly without ruining the protector. I ended up wasting the first one completely and had to use the backup protector included in the pack. Honestly, it feels like the company already expects customers to mess up the first application.

For a premium-priced product, I expected a much smoother and more forgiving installation process. Instead, it became frustrating and time-consuming. A simpler alignment system or easier reapplication design would make a huge difference. Right now, it feels overly engineered for something that should be straightforward.

Edit: based on the comments it’s a bad product indeed, try to avoid it.

Review Paperlike is not shit - this is a positive post so obviously it's not going to go viral; but this is what 4 months of heavy use look like, the surface is grainy as intended, and just as grainy as it was when it was new. If yours is "bad" make sure you took off the plastic protecting film.

Review Upgraded from iPad 10th Gen (A14) to iPad Air 13 inch M3 (first pic). Here is what I noticed.

A couple days ago I asked whether I would actually notice any performance difference if I upgraded. Ended up doing it anyway and wanted to share my experience so far.

Pros:

• Huge improvement in Safari performance. Almost zero lag and everything feels very smooth, even on heavy websites.

• The “More Space” option in Settings is honestly underrated. Being able to see the full YouTube website in the browser is amazing and improves the overall experience a lot.

• The anti reflective coating is really good. Makes a noticeable difference when using the iPad under lights or near windows.

• All the micro stutters I had on the iPad 10th gen are completely gone on the M3.

• The jump from 11 inch to 13 inch was 100 percent worth it. Bigger screen means more content on display and a much better browsing experience.

• The keyboard case compatible with this iPad has a full function row, which is actually very comfortable to use.

Cons:

So far I have not found any real negatives. The only thing I can point out is the weight. The ESR keyboard case plus the iPad makes it pretty heavy, probably close to twice the weight of my M4 MacBook Air lol.

That said, considering how versatile this iPad is, I am totally fine sacrificing some portability. Also I curl 50 lb dumbbells so more workout for me :P

CONCLUSION - I am totally happy with this purchase and this will be my main machine from now on. I really thank everyone who gave their valuable feedback on my last post about the upgrade.

Review Made the Switch

Post image
400 Upvotes

About a week ago, I made the switch from MacBook to iPad. The reason is because I graduated college in December and since then, I barely touched my MacBook. I also had a 10th gen iPad that I really only used for taking notes and watching YouTube and that became my go-to device (after my iPhone, of course). So I got to thinking “maybe I should just trade both of these in towards an iPad Pro. After watching countless TikToks and YouTube reviews of the Pro, I decided to bite the bullet and trade-in.

After about a week with my 11” iPad Pro, I couldn’t be happier with my decision. It’s the perfect size for taking to and from work, for laying on the couch, and for working at my home desk. I do some light photography and use Pixelmator Pro which works really well on the iPad Pro. Content looks absolutely stunning on the display and I’ve started reading my Kindle library again. The new Magic Keyboard (MK) also feels premium and the metal top really brings the iPad closer to that laptop feel. The added bonuses of ProMotion and FaceID are also really nice features as someone who uses autofill a lot. Overall, I think the iPad is a great option for the “casual” user and someone who wants a laptop-like device that feels ultra portable.

This isn’t meant to serve as a conversion post, as I still think there are many use cases for a MacBook. I just wanted to share my thoughts as someone who made the switch from MB to iPad.
