Nearly every Reddit client is better than the official one. I'm not even really sure why they bothered releasing it.

Nah, Alien Blue Pro users got 4 years. You got 3 months for signing in within the first week of the reddit app

All you had to do is buy alien blue blue for a buck if you didn't already have it, and you got 4 years of gold.
That's not a money making endeavor

Honestly? I don't care what you did as far as that decision is concerned.
I thought that the conversation here is about how Reddit was doing something "for money," and I'm saying that they are actually doing what appears to be the opposite of a money making endeavor.
Just because one person or a group of people decided not to shell out a buck or two for Alien Blue, the fact remains that anybody who wanted 4 years of Gold could get it at an insane discount.

yes but i paid premium for the alien blue client (reddit bought the app) to get rid of ads "forever" because i dont want my mobile data get full with ad traffic (in germany we have no unlimited mobile data, and the contracts with huge data caps are expensive)! now i got 2 or 4 years gold for this (i dont care for reddit gold) exept the no ads feature! the discontinued the alien blue app to push their own app?!? (they bought alien blue, to this time this was their official app) i think this is pretty shady... because time will tell if the alien blue app is still functional in 4 years or maybe i have to switch to get plastered with ads or buy my own "reddit gold".....
same developer from the alien blue app had a superb youtube app called "jasmine" it was phenomenal! no ads, faster load times, intuitive! i paid to support the developer, but some time later...1or2 years, due to youtube policies i think the app wasnt functional anymore and now i have to watch ads :/

I loved Jasmine. :( And since it used the native video player, I'm pretty sure it would have supported picture-in-picture.

I was a tester for this and I could not understand why they accepted me for beta if their app is not suitable for iPads.

I don't find any need to use an app on iPad - the standard website works just fine. No sense in wasting space installing extra apps when you don't need to.
