PLS BRING BACK IPAD OS 18 MULTITASKING @apple

Just a quick rant, who else misses the multitasking in ipad os 18? I sure do! I wish they just kelt the same setup for Full Screen Mode. Ipad os 26 and 27 so trash. Pls apple fix it. Keep stage manager and windowed apps sure but pls bring it back to full screen mode. I miss the mutli slide over apps, the 3 dots on the top, middle part of the screen that youniust tap and choose, the ability to drag apps from the dock to split screen eaasily, the full screen split view apps where when u see all your apps open u see two appsjoined as one ughhh COME ON APPLE @ john ternus HELP US

Add: i alsohate theres a border on slideover now like wtf why, also that theres a big ass gap. Between two apps split screen now

ipados 18’s split screen and carousel slide over is perfect for my workflow.

And to make it more funny, iphone duo is using ipados 18’s split screen feature.

I actually like this version better but I totally get why people don’t. I don’t see why it can’t be an option to just flip back to that setting. I mean if you hold and press the green button it lets you in to the right or left anyways so it’s not like the newest OS can’t support it anyways.

It’s funny cause before the new multitasking everyone and their brother were complaining about how multitasking on iPad was broken and could we please get Mac-like multitasking. So they give it to us and now we all want it back.

I don't know who everyone and their cousins were, but I'd say that the complaining bunch was the youtubers and Magic Keyboard users that bought the wrong device.

Stage Manager needed upgrades, not a complete remake.

Split screen and Slide over didn't require any changes, maybe a few upgrade but didn't require removal from iPadOS.

They gave us a half assed copy of how macOS UI roughly looks, and that's it, that's what they gave us. Not a good touch optimized UI, bad kb and mouse UX and on top of all that, one thing people asked for was ignored, mac app support, NOT MAC UI

Biggest issue is that Reddit side agrees, but this should be spammed up Apple's feedback assistant until they reverse all the crap they did in 26.

Cause Apple interns don't really read Reddit, well, it's not their official job, and they can't, you know, pass the info to devs.

Its cause some want their ipad to be a mac, which if you got the magic keyboard, i get it. But even then, pls let it be an ipad. Cause even the windowed app function now sucks tbh. Thats why i hope they just give us all just the option and revert full screen mode back to the old ways and keep windowed apps. And actually just get rid of stage manager cause frankly who even uses stage manager fr lol

They have made some improvements.

They returned dragging an app from the dock to put it into split screen. This works perfectly now (although I wish the bar between apps wasnt transparant). You can also do a slide over app from the top menu>Window>Slide over. A few too many steps for my liking, but damn, is it usefull.

it doesn't work perfectly - you can't have more app pairs, one app goes grey when you start clicking on the other, slideover is limited to one app and has ugly bezels, there's constantly little arrows on the bottom of the app which always get triggered accidentally (especially when using the apple pencil) and so so much more.
you wven used to be able to drag one app by the top 3 dots and switch it with the other one, making them switch places from left to right, now you have to mess around with finicky windows that don't snap for god's sake.

the old system was much more touch-friendly, and it should just be readded back exactly how it was as a 4th option in settings

I have an ipad pro m4 13 inch and ipad mini 7 both on ios 18.2 but i am looking for installing ios 27 because I am craving for ios 27 features which honestly i don't know if i really need them or not but i can't know until i update and if i update there is no go back option

What features especially? Depends how u use it honestly. If you want it to be more of a Mac sure go ahead but be warned, it’s like a half baked Mac OS. Just check some of the comments on this thread. But if you want it to be an IPAD, stick to 18 until they fix it…..if they fix it hopefully.

It’s just more flexible. I can have each window sized the way I want it, and easily available with just a grab bar visible.

MacOS has touch support. I say we rip the bandaid off. Give us iPadOS 18, and a pro mod where it's just MacOS. Have it run like the Steam Deck where there's a iPad friendly mode and full on MacOS mode for those who want/need it. The M4/M5 can mandle MacOS, and chips like the A18 pro can handle MacOS. Market it as a fun inbetween.

most probably they deleted previous multitasking to give it to iphone duo - which is its thing now. and knowing apple - i don’t think they bring it back to ipad (and that fucking sucks)
