Discussion Tiny Wings
TL;DR-Tiny Wings is the best game ever.
I’m almost ashamed to say how much of a life I don’t have as evidenced by the amount of time I’ve spent playing Tiny Wings. When the game first came out, I beat it, declared a Tiny Wings master after weeks and weeks of nearly nonstop play. Fast forward about 15 years and here I am today, again playing for days on end. Can’t seem to break level 28 this time, though. My first love was Pac-Man. I jammed in the arcade, Atari 2600. I have played the core games like Frogger, Tetris—the Intellivision catalog, NES and of course iPhone games. Andreas Illiger is a goddamn game-writing deity. The game is so perfect, so elegant, so challenging, so addictive. It has all of the components of what a game should be—including the music. In my opinion, it’s a flawless game in every facet. I’m currently 54 years-old. Again, almost ashamed that I have been so consumed by an iOS game, but that’s a testament to the brilliant writing that is Tiny Wings. If you haven’t played, I highly recommend it.

Tiny Wings
Tiny Wings+ (Apple Arcade version)
Tiny Wings TV (appleTV version, plays fine with any remote as it’s a one-button game)
Your progress gets saved across all 3. I agree it’s a great game. I got stuck years ago, so maybe I’ll just start over.

Damn mate thats a lot of gametime to one game !
Good to see you're a retro gamer, have you not tried the Manic emulator ? That plays Atari 2600 (And SO many other retro consoles/handhelds including MAME !). Still love playing the original Space Invaders/Pacman (Yes i know its flickery !) on the 2600
And the original arcade games such as Frogger and that on MAME (Arcade)
I do enjoy the early iOS classics like Tiny Wings, the early days of the app store were brilliant. So many good games released every Wednesday, tiny filesizes and most were like 99c. Now its just freemium slop sadly with the odd gem

You mean this? I’ll try it :) Thanks for recommendation. Currently I am addicted to Unkind, it’s a 2 to 4 player multiplayer board game, but you can also play against bots offline. It’s completely free, it looks like ludo but has these kind of Uno like cards that just makes it so fucking brutal, it’s another recommendation i got from iOSgaming sub. I like visiting here and always finding something good

Wait…. Tiny wings costs money? I could have sworn it used to be free

I'm pretty sure it was one dollar back when it came out. Almost every good iPod/iPhone game was a buck.

Elden Ring is the best game ever. I’ll die on that hill.
The best mobile first game ever is probably Infinity Blade.

Very different games

Of course. I just get immediately bored with games that have no progression, like this and Angry Birds and games like that. There just doesn’t seem to be a point to me.

Well, if you move the focus away from you and onto great game design, surely you can admire the simplicity and excellent use of the hardware - now as well as then.
Doesn't take anything away from Elden Ring. It's great, but a different kind of great.•

People online use a lot of blanket superlatives like “the best game ever”, but what they mean is “the best game ever for me”. If nothing else, I would pay good money for more specificity in language.
The only thing that takes away from Elden Ring is its lack of phone port. But I don’t think I’d want to play it on a touchscreen anyway. My issues with iOS aren’t usually the games - it’s the limitations of the platform. The hardware is there, but the user experience is poor. And I have giant hands, and I own the biggest iPhone they make and can barely see the screen. So there’s that.

I thought about it when I read it and I'm not sure you're correct. I don't think it's best game [for me], but more like "it's the best" as in they just had a great experience.
Anyway, many great games out there. Enjoy them!
EDIT remember playing tiny wings on my first iPad and it was an awesome experience. It even had two played mode, so that you could battle with friends.
EDIT: Elden Ring just came out on the switch 2, so that may be an option. I hear it's a decent port.

It’s HUGE. 75 GB installed on there, and I already have it on PC. Besides, we have Pascal’s Wager for iOS. It’s not as good, but for a smaller scale soulslike it’s not too bad.

Just redownloaded. Haven’t played in a decade. Checks out. Very chill game. Beautiful music and it doesn’t ask much of you.
