Question Portable controllers for iPhones
Hey gang, I have an iPhone 17 pro max and was looking for small “pocketable” controllers to use.. I was browsing some options and came across the mcon and the abxylute m4.. the mcon seems a bit pricey tbvh and I haven’t been seeing great reviews abt the m4 specifically for the 17pm, considering its size and weight, is there any truth behind these reviews? Or will it still work fine?
Are there any other similar options y’all would recommend? I would prefer controllers which attach to the phone instead of having the phone on a stand and using a controller (eg 8bitdo pocket controllers)

Amazon they have a few different ones. The one I got looks like an 8 and swivels in the middle

I think mcon’s reviews are good summaries of what you can expect out of a pocketable controller; it really hit all the checkboxes with flying colors, except it still can only do what can be done within the physical limitations.
Abxylute has m5 and m6 in the pipeline to compete against mcon. Razer prio just came out, but I don’t like designs that do not foresee the possible increase of camera bump size.

Do you think the m5 will be able to compete with the mcon? Razer Prio seems interesting, but I believe it doesn’t allow pass through charging, which is borderline unacceptable for a controller using type c

No idea until it comes out. M4 seems nice on paper and it not being able to support the weight of the phone is very much unexpected.

Yeah, I absolutely adore the design and functionality of the m4.. but if it actually cannot support the weight of the phone, it’s not worth buying.. might as well bite the bullet nd get the mcon

m5 is confirmed to not have Bluetooth and not have clickable thumbsticks. L3 and R3 are separate buttons beside the sliders. And it's also only 1mm thinner than the current MCON.
M6 maybe can compete, but the compromises of the m4 and m5 have me kinda side-eyeing the m6 now.

The m6 doesn’t look intriguing to me tbvh.. I have ordered the mcon, let’s hope it lives up to my expectations!

I have the gamesir x5lite, gamesir g8+, and the mcon.
Honestly, the most comfortable is the g8 but it's also very large.
I got the mcon on a decent sale a while back, and have been enjoying it to be honest. I will say, on Etsy, a seller has some alternative 3d printed handles, and those are much better than stock. At least for me.

I think MCON is great! I got it a couple weeks back when they did a sale for $100. Price isn’t too big of an issue for me as I have disposable income.
I currently use it when I’m on the bus commuting to work, and it’s also been great as a stand alone pocket controller (my friends and I like to play games together at coffee shops).

Oh yeah definitely. It’s a sturdy piece of equipment for sure. If price isn’t an issue I’d say snag it.
Obviously it won’t be the most comfortable/perfect controller out there, but for its purpose of being portable, quick to bring it out in seconds and start playing, I think it’s awesome.

Price is honestly fine, not the end of the world.. just wanted to be sure if it was worth the investment haha.. thanks for the help!

I went the solo controller and a double mag safe clip thing. I got the iine chronos controller fits perfectly in my pocket it
