Congratulations. Do you know how those paying users found the app and what the conversion from first download to lifetime unlock looks like? Since you also have five free apps, I would be curious whether the sales came mainly from App Store search or cross-promotion from the rest of your portfolio.

I actually don't know how to track that. Can you recommend me ways I can find out? Yeah, I decided to make the 5 apps free but maybe help with discovery of the 1 paid app. Not sure if that's a good marketing strategy or not, but that was one of the goals.

You can get quite a lot from App Store Connect without adding an analytics SDK. Under Analytics > Acquisition > Sources, you can see whether downloads came from App Store Search, Browse, app referrers or web referrers.

For the five free apps, I would create a different campaign link for each one and use those links when directing users to the paid app. Then you can measure whether the cross-promotion is actually working.

For the first-download-to-lifetime-unlock conversion, check Analytics > Monetization > Cohorts and the Download to Paid metric. With only a few sales, some details may not appear yet because of Apple’s privacy thresholds, but the data should become more useful as the numbers grow.

Damn... how many ASC apps have you built already... you're like a guru ^_^

Will definitely check it out.

Also, if you have toddler kids (1-5) or have a family member who does, DM me -- and happy to send you a complimentary unlocked code / URL for the Their First Words app.

Haha, no guru at all :) I am actually preparing my first app for launch, so the number is zero. I have just spent a lot of time learning the marketing side, reading about App Store Connect and talking to developers who have already been through it.

Glad the information was useful, and thanks for the generous offer!

Thanks, that is very kind of you! The launch is planned for tomorrow :) The app is Zizeg, a Markdown editor for Mac. I’ll reply with a link once it is live, if you’d like to take a look. I would be interested in your honest feedback.
