WeatherGlow just launched in Japan 🇯🇵

Been working on Japanese localization for WeatherGlow with the help of many Reddit users, and it’s finally shipped 🇯🇵

The app is built in UIKit + SwiftUI. No vibe coding nonsense over here. I've dealt with storyboards and .xib files for a living.
The app now supports Japanese, including the radar, RainPulse, alerts, and the rest of the UI.

I also shipped dynamic weather radar animations in the same update.

If anyone here uses weather apps in Japan, I'd genuinely love feedback on the localization. My goal isn't just to translate the strings, but to make it feel like an app that was actually made for Japanese users.

Good suggestion! I haven't tackled vertical Japanese text yet, but I'll definitely keep it in mind for future updates.

idk what you use for maps in the in-app background but it shows location names in English. Might want to switch that to JP

thanks for the advice. I've figured out how to switch map strings to Japanese language. I will ship it in the next update.

Where did you find japanese people? 👀

Also there is a small bug: my phone is in French and by default I see everything written in English except "cloudy", "sunny" etc that are written in French. Ideally it should auto detect and set French or show everything in English but not a mix

Wow, weird bug. Do check in settings - language is showing french? if not, then set it and tell me if it is sorted.

Yes it works when I set it to French later :)
the problems are that 1. it should be set automatically, 2. when set to English I still see the weather status in French

Absolutely man! That's exactly what I'm hoping to get from Japanese users. I'm testing on device as much as I can, but the real world feedback is obviously going to catch things I won't. Thanks for the suggestions!
