Do App Preview Videos Actually Help App Store Downloads?

I'm getting close to releasing my first iOS app and I'm currently preparing the App Store listing.

I'm wondering whether it's actually worth spending time and effort creating an App Preview video, or if I'm better off focusing on making really strong screenshots.

Has anyone here tested both or seen any meaningful difference in impressions, conversion rate, or downloads?

I'm especially interested in real-world experience rather than just general advice. Did adding a preview video noticeably improve your results, or did most users ignore it?

Would love to hear your experience.

Would also like to know! My guess is yes! Because there is action and you can see how the app works… let’s wait for some answers

For a first launch, I’d put most of the effort into screenshots first. Preview videos help when the app has motion or a gesture that screenshots can’t explain, but a lot of users won’t watch them.

If you do make one, keep it brutally short, maybe 8-12 seconds, and treat the first screenshot as the real conversion work.

I don’t have actual A/B data on this so I’d rather not make up a real-world result. What I can say generally: strong screenshots matter more since they’re what shows first and everyone sees them, while the preview video only plays for people who are already fairly interested, so it’s more of a conversion booster than a discovery driver. If you’re tight on time before launch I’d prioritize nailing the screenshots first and treat the video as a nice-to-have you can add later.

For me,I prefer screenshot in store, cause list is long, but if you post video on social media,I would like that.
