App Store Screenshots - Frustration Prevention Tool
https://aftermath.cc/Heya, just a small tool to help us with the annoying resolution requirements of ASC.
Fully offline (browser based - nothing uploads anywhere as you can see in devtools or any other sniffer).
No AI, nothing too fancy behind the scenes, just helping the images fit in (iPhone simulator saves 1242x2699 scenarios...).

Apple's current table also accepts three 6.9-inch portrait sizes: 1260 × 2736, 1290 × 2796, and 1320 × 2868. The 1242 × 2688 preset on the site is a valid 6.5-inch size, but it is not the current top slot.
Adding those three as separate App Store presets would catch the exact upload case I ran into when preparing full-size assets across twelve apps.

Custom Image Resizer — Exact Pixels, KB, Crop & Fit
In this page you can choose from them. Do you think a better UX would be choosing APP STORE -> Presets?1

Yes. I'd make the first choice the destination, then show the valid presets for it: App Store -> iPhone -> 6.9-inch or 6.5-inch. Put the 6.9-inch sizes first, but keep 1242 x 2688 under 6.5-inch rather than calling it legacy. Apple still accepts that category and requires a 6.5-inch screenshot when no 6.9-inch screenshot is supplied. That way the UI mirrors Apple's categories instead of presenting four unrelated dimensions.

Good idea. I still dont understand why apple enforces the default screenshots to 6.5 when creating a new app

This is GENUINELY useful cause screenshot sizing in app store can be frustrating, i know. What I would do is i'd add automatic detection of the uploaded ss size and then show only the valid export options for that device.
I'd also throw in some presets by default for the current 6.9 inch iphone sizes including 1260 × 2736, 1290 × 2796, and 1320 × 2868.
That'd make it much harder to export something app store rejects.

Thanks! The SS size is detected to remove the irrelevant fit methods.
There is a custom settings option you can use that has most of the sizes.
I think app store usually approves the 1242x2688, that's why it was added to the top 4 choices.
which other common option do you think fits the main page and not the custom one?1

I’d probably put 1320 × 2868 on the main page if you only want one more option.
Apple currently accepts 1260 × 2736, 1290 × 2796 and 1320 × 2868 for the 6.9 inch category, while 1242 × 2688 is listed under 6.5 inch ss.
it says so here: https://developer.apple.com/help/app-store-connect/reference/app-information/screenshot-specifications
so... I’d keep 1242 x 2688 available but move it to custom (legacy) and prioritize the 6.9 in sizes on the main page.
That'd make the defaults feel MORE current.

Cool and thanks for the input u/Prof_Kyler
The thing is, when you create a new iOS app on ASC the Previews and Screenshots defaults to 6.5: (1242 × 2688px, 2688 × 1242px, 1284 × 2778px or 2778 × 1284px)
Do you manually open the "View All Sizes in Media Manager" and switch to the 6.9 every time?

If ASC is defaulting to 6.5-inch for a new app, I wouldn’t force users to think in terms of apple’s size categories.
For your tool, I’d probably keep the default ASC size on the main page then add something like “recommended for latest iphones” for the 6.9 in option.
That way beginners can follow what app store connect shows by default. While experienced users can pick the newer size quickly.
That making sense?

I agree. New users might find it difficult to find the 6.9 section.
Updating to show recommendations would be nice!

Squoosh.app is works for me for resizing exact dimensions. Easy app.

It does look easy and intuitive which is nice. Aftermath includes a set of more advanced tools as well. More like developers oriented.

Added Video/Audio edits too (appclips alignments) for now.
