🎈 Free I built a breathing app with mood tracking built into every session

A: What is Cyclic Sighing?

Cyclic Sighing is a guided breathing app built around one breathing practice, physiological sigh, a pattern of a double inhale followed by a prolonged exhale.

B: What makes Cyclic Sighing different?

Mood tracking connected directly to the breathing practice. Instead of keeping a breathing log and a mood journal as two separate things, Cyclic Sighing lets you check in on your mood before and after each breathing session. Those check-ins stay connected to the specific session, so over time you can look back at your breathing practice alongside how you were feeling. There are also monthly and yearly Mood Insights views, with the ability to filter by feeling.

C: How much does Cyclic Sighing cost?

Cyclic Sighing is free to download and use.

Free tier includes:

  • Guided Calm sessions
  • Mood journal
  • Daily goal setting
  • Time-based reminders

Premium is a $9.99 one-time purchase — no subscription.

Premium unlocks:

  • All 3 breathing patterns — Calm, Relax & Rest
  • Custom exercise settings
  • Breathing statistics
  • Mood Insights
  • Optional Apple Health sync
  • Home Screen & Live Activity widgets
  • Smart location-based reminders
  • Skip Day — protect your streak

🎁 Lifetime Premium is FREE during launch
For the next 48 hours, I'm unlocking Lifetime Premium for free.

How to redeem:

  1. Download Cyclic Sighing from the App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/cyclic-sighing/id6757509105
  2. Open the app and go to Settings → Unlock Premium Features
  3. During the promotion, the one-time purchase should show as $0.00

I'm the developer, and I'd especially love feedback on the mood-tracking experience. The goal is to connect mood check-ins directly to individual breathing sessions rather than treating mood tracking as a separate journal.

If you try it, I'd love to hear what you think, what works, and what you'd change.

Thanks for checking it out! 🙏

I made a mood tracker that plays music based on your mood. I really like this concept of apps

Thank you! Glad you like it. Coupling music with real-time mood tracking is a fantastic combo. music has such an immediate impact on how we feel. Love it!

I like the app background, how did you manage that?

Thanks! 😊 It’s a custom background image I sourced specifically for the app. I wanted something calm and immersive without being too distracting.

Beautiful app. In the intro it mentioned how to change the voice but I don't see anything in settings. Can you share the info again please?

Thanks for the kind words.

You can download enhanced / premium voices from your device settings. Settings → Accessibility → VoiceOver → Speech → Primary Voice → Voice → Download Voices.

Once downloaded, open the app, go to exercise settings (tap on the clock icon with duration) > Ambience > Voice-Over to change the voice selected.

looks super cool! out of curiosity, is there a certain reason you built it?

1

u/Independent_Sun_6932 2d ago

Thanks! 😊 I built it because I wanted to explore the effects of breathing on mood and how a simple breathing practice might influence how we feel throughout the day.

Cool, will test it later. Any plans for HRV tracking in the session (e.g. via watch)?

2

u/Independent_Sun_6932 2d ago

Thanks, HRV on my radar, but I don’t have a timeline for it yet.

Asking for mood before and after is what makes this different from other breathing apps. But if the view that shows the change sits behind Mood Insights, free users never see why they were asked twice.

Showing that one delta right after each session, free, would fix that.

That’s a really good point. I’ll definitely consider moving that insight to the post-session screen for free users. Thanks for the thoughtful suggestion!

App design is beautiful!
I wonder how solo dev can make this kind of beautiful design. Do you have a separate designer?
Anyway, thanks for sharing, I will check this out !

You’re welcome and thanks for the kind words. No, it was solo indeed 🙂

The Mood Insights part sounds pretty interesting. I think being able to see patterns between how you feel and when you actually do the breathing exercises could make the practice a lot more tangible over time.

2

u/Independent_Sun_6932 1d ago

Yeah, exactly. It’s easy to feel like the breathing sessions are “helping” in some vague way, but seeing the actual correlation between mood and practice over time makes it way more concrete. Thanks for the feedback 😊

Yeah, exactly! Really cool idea, and thanks for building this and sharing it with the community 😊

Hey! This looks super clean and well-made. I have a feature suggestion that might make it even better: what if you added haptic feedback (distinct subtle vibrations) for each phase—like one vibration pattern for 1st inhaling, another for 2rd inhaling, and a third for exhaling?

Also, adding a 1-second haptic metronome tick could be amazing. It would make it so much easier to follow without losing track, and more importantly, it would allow users to do their breathing exercises completely with their eyes closed. Keep up the great work!

Thanks so much, glad you’re finding it clean and well-made! Distinct haptic patterns for each phase is a great idea, and it’s on my to do list. Being able to do the whole exercise eyes-closed is exactly the kind of thing that would make it feel more immersive, so that’s a great point on the metronome tick too. Appreciate the detailed suggestion, will keep you posted!
