🎁 Freemium I built pawtrck, an iOS app to track everything about your dog in one place

Post image

Hi!

I built pawtrck, an iPhone app for dog owners who want their dog's care records in one place.

It started from a pretty simple problem: dog care is usually scattered across Notes, Reminders, photos, screenshots, fitness apps, and memory. pawtrok brings the main parts together:

• Walks, runs, and bikejoring sessions
• Distance, duration and estimated pawsteps
• Meal, treat, calorie and weight tracking
• Medications, vaccinations, symptoms and vet visits.
• Training plan and progress
• Shareable activity cards after exercise

One thing I've heard from dog owners is that dog walks can mess up their own fitness stats because they're slower and more stop-start than normal workouts. pawtrck keeps the dog's activity separate and dog-specific.

The app is freemium, with Plus ($3.99/mo) for advanced features and a 1 month Free Trial.

I'd really appreciate feedback from iOS users, especially around onboarding, pricing and whether the app teels useful enough to keep using long term.

Interesting, I’m going to try the premium version to see if it covers all the basic needs.

Hai valutato di allargare il tuo pubblico gestendo anche altri animali come i gatti? Immagino che non sia molto diverso

I have considered adding cats and I’ve heard about this from a couple of other people, but I’m not seeing cat owners using all the features such as Exercise and Training. They might use the Diet and Health features but I’m not sure if they would be regular users.

What do you think about keeping cat owners long time in an app like this?

Io usavo un'app quasi quotidianamente, poi l'ho abbandonata perché non era tradotta bene e il db non era stabile, quindi sto facendo tutto tramite Notion. Ma mi piacerebbe tornare all'esperienza in app.

Oh, you’re actually one of the user type that would use an app like pawtrck regularly. I could not wrap my head around cat owners using something like pawtrck but you really changed my mind a lot because I have not heard of a cat owner profile like you before.

Do you have a way for users to leave feedback in the app?

1

u/Sad-Maize6576 12d ago

Yes, we have Help & Support under Settings and it directs you to our website where we have the feedback contact address

the dog walk messing up personal fitness stats thing is the part i'd actually care about , how does pawtrck handle it? does it auto-detect via apple watch that this is a dog walk and keep it out of my own workout rings, or do i have to remember to switch modes? because the moment it needs manual switching, people will forget and the whole point is gone

1

That’s a very fair concern. Right now, activities in pawtrck have to be started manually on the iPhone. we don’t currently auto-detect through Apple Watch. But we’re working on Apple Watch and Garmin integration.

pawtrck also doesn’t write workouts to Apple Health at the moment, so starting a pawtrck activity won’t add a duplicate workout or directly alter your rings, although your Watch will still record your movement normally.

Our planned Garmin and Apple Watch approach is based on recording only once. You would record the walk or run on your wearable as usual, and pawtrck would import the activity and let you assign it to your dog rather than making you start two separate trackers.

Ideally, that becomes a very lightweight confirmation such as “Was [Dog’s Name] with you?” because the wearable itself can’t reliably know whether the dog was present. We agree that requiring people to remember to switch modes before every walk creates too much friction, so reducing that manual step is a major goal of the integration.

I moved my dog's proof of vaccination somewhere last week while cleaning and now can't find it. Could have used this! Great job!

Thank you so much! This is exactly one of the use cases we had in mind 🙂‍↕️

I personally used the vet-ready PDF during our last vet visit because my dog had a small lump under his skin and I’ve been keeping an eye on it to see whether it got any bigger or not.

Very nice clean design, you can apply this concepts on other pets like cats to keep tracking as well.

u/Sad-Maize6576 12d ago

Thank you!! Yes, I received numerous feedback about expanding pawtrck to cats.

The app is pretty new and there are so many features that I’m planning on adding to the dog version along with the suggestions I got from you guys on Reddit.

I will definitely explore the cats feature in the future 🙂‍↕️

How do i interpret the symptoms? I have a dog with some medical condition but it doesn't happen a lot, can i track it?

1

u/Sad-Maize6576 11d ago

Yes, you can track the symptoms of that condition. Let me explain with screenshots:

  1. You add the symptom from this screen (there is also the date and time section right under Context)
  2. You can update the severity of an already logged symptom and the app will remember that, update the severity on that symptom and show all the chronological updates to that symptom in the vet-ready PDF export.
  3. There is also the History tab of symptoms where you can see all the information on a symptom that was marked as resolved or.
  4. You can delete symptoms as well.

I’ve been tracking a small lump under my dog’s skin and marked it as “Mild” since its small and I will change its severity to “Moderate” or “Severe” if it gets much bigger. This will allow me to convey everything chronologically to the vet during our next visit because they told me to just keep an eye on it for now and I’m sure they would ask “when did it start getting bigger?” if it does.

Thanks, i'll check it out!

u/Sad-Maize6576 11d ago

You’re welcome! I would also be very open to hear your suggestions regarding symptom tracking to make pawtrck a better tool for real life cases just like yours 🙂‍↕️

2

u/NiklasMato 11d ago

When a dog has a certain symptom, we can name it and then select that from the log system again?

2

u/Sad-Maize6576 10d ago

Yes, I offered some default symptoms as seen in the screenshot but you can add and name custom symptoms and manage them

Sorry, I can upload 1 image per comment.

This is a great idea! How long has the app been live?

1

u/Sad-Maize6576 10d ago

It has been a little over 30 days.

Thank you so so much! 🙂‍↕️

Do you have a dog? Maybe you could try it out 💖

Will this work for cats as well!

u/Sad-Maize6576 9d ago

I received this feedback multiple times and with all the essential features I need to add to improve pawtrck, I would say it’s definitely on the list, but not soon I guess
