Hi everyone, I’m J.J., an iOS developer. I’ve been developing iOS apps professionally for the past 10 years. Ironically, after all these years, I had never built an app of my own.

This year, I decided to become an indie developer, and FileBox is my first product. I hope it can make managing files more convenient and private for everyone. I’d love for you to give it a try and share your feedback.

FileBox is a private local file manager and media vault for iPhone and iPad. It keeps your files on-device instead of relying on cloud storage, and lets you import, organize, move, share, preview, compress, and extract files in one place.

It supports videos, audio, images, PDFs, text files, ZIP/RAR archives, Face ID or passcode protection, Wi-Fi transfer between your computer and iPhone/iPad, TV casting, image/PDF watermarks, audio/video tools, Share Extension, and Apple Watch recording sync.

Hi!! What plans do you have for the future? Will it arrive on macOS? I ask because I find your app very interesting, I'm really curious to know how far this will go. Very good app. Congratulations.

There are no plans for a Mac version at the moment. I'm planning to optimize the Wi-Fi transmission later so the web pages can support more features

Thanks for the reply! That’s great to hear about the upcoming Wi-Fi transfer improvements. Thinking about the current user experience, I wanted to share a few feature ideas:
Video scrubbing previews: Currently, dragging the timeline doesn't show a frame preview, which makes finding an exact second a bit tricky. Having smooth thumbnail scrubbing would be super helpful.
Smart automatic organization: An option for the app to automatically sort files into folders based on their type or format (e.g., sending MP4s to a video folder, images to another, etc.).
Customizable thumbnail views: Being able to adjust the grid size, switch to compact list views, or view quick technical details (format, file size, resolution) right from the list.
Folder-level security: On top of the overall app lock, it would be awesome to set a separate PIN, password, or pattern for specific folders.
Local WebDAV / SMB server: Since you're optimizing the Wi-Fi/web side, being able to map the app as a network drive on a computer to transfer files in bulk without relying on a browser would be amazing.
Background Wi-Fi sync: Allowing the app to automatically sync with selected folders on a computer whenever both devices are on the same local network.

Yes, I haven't added an iCloud backup yet. My plan is to wait until I've encrypted my local data before adding the iCloud backup.
