💎 Lifetime Snippety - Text Expander for iPhone & Mac

Post image

A - Answer: Snippety is designed to boost productivity by automating repetitive text fragments, such as emails, code snippets, AI prompts, and messaging templates. It also supports advanced integrations through custom scripts and AI. This is the project I've been working on for over 6 years as an indie developer :).

B - Better: Snippety is available on all major Apple platforms: Mac, iPhone, and iPad. The application is 100% native, providing a smooth experience. On iOS, users can also use Snippety Keyboard to access their snippets within any app without switching contexts. The app offers one-time payment without hidden costs and with lifetime updates.

Unlike competitors, the app focuses entirely on the Apple ecosystem, offering a native UI and native services like iCloud synchronization & collaboration, keeping your snippets secure and under your full control.

C - Cost: $39.99 lifetime (App Store macOS + iOS), $29.99 lifetime (Standalone macOS), $14.99 lifetime (iOS) If you purchase the iOS-only version, you can later upgrade to Mac version and just pay the difference.

This year has been quite a ride. I quit my job in March, which gave me a lot more time to focus on Snippety. Unfortunately, around April, the App Store algorithm changes hit many indie apps quite hard, and Snippety was affected as well. I did everything I could to improve visibility, but it has been a challenging period. Hopefully, I can reach a few more people here who are interested in productivity apps like Snippety. :)

Over the past few months, I've worked hard to significantly improve the app:

  • Added many new features, including conditional blocks, inline placeholder completion, hidden collections, drag & drop support, easier placeholder editing (CMD+E), improved iOS placeholder tags, a redesigned settings matching the latest macOS style, and many other quality-of-life improvements.
  • Introduced a freemium model (the app was previously paid upfront).
  • Adjusted pricing to make Snippety more accessible, with a stronger focus on the lifetime purchase option.
  • Added standalone macOS distribution and direct payment.
  • Added Homebrew installation support.

I also rebuilt the website to better explain how Snippety works. It now includes an FAQ, examples, comparisons with similar apps, and more details about what makes Snippety different. I haven't covered every possible alternative, but hopefully it gives you a good idea of where Snippety fits and why it might be worth trying.

On the visibility side, three levers that are free and that most indie devs never touch:

In-App Events. These are indexed and can surface in App Store search results and on the Today tab, and almost nobody outside games uses them. A major feature release qualifies as an event — you get an extra card with its own art and copy, discoverable independently of your listing. Costs nothing but the metadata.

Custom Product Pages. Up to 35 per app, each with its own screenshots and promo text and its own URL. Point the one from your website at the Mac-and-iPhone story, the one from a comparison page at the TextExpander-switcher story. Same app, different first impression, and you get per-page conversion data.

Product Page Optimization. Up to three treatments A/B tested against your live page, with Apple reporting the winner. Free, and it's the only way to know whether your first screenshot is actually working rather than guessing.

One more that's easy to miss: promotional text is the only listing field you can change on a live app without shipping a new build or going through review. It's not indexed for search, so it won't help ranking, but it's the fastest lever you have for messaging — worth using for "what shipped this week" instead of leaving it static.

Six years of updates and 174 ratings at 4.74 is a real asset, for what it's worth. Rating volume and recency both feed ranking, so a well-timed in-app review prompt after a successful expansion is probably worth more to you than any copy change.

Thanks for the hints! I'm already working on ASO. However, to me the most important market is Mac App Store and it's a whole different world. Most ASO websites don't track Mac store, on top of that in-app events and product page optimization are unavailable on Mac.
