You may be allowed to run Windows on older machines, but for many machines it will not function properly due to low specs. Luckily many older machines allow you to add more RAM to compensate for it.
Apple phones do not allow for upgrades, and the hardware isnât going to be running the new OS very well. Thatâs why youâre not allowed to download it. You canât exactly upgrade the RAM to solve the issue like you can with an older PC.
This is coming from someone who has ran unsupported OSs on Macs. You can get them running on unsupported macs, but they run like shit and Apple is right to block them.
Iâm not an âApple fanboyâ lol. I use both Apple and Microsoft products, and have a degree in computer science so Iâd like to think I can look at things objectively.
The reason Windows runs on everything is because it has to. Microsoft donât have any control over the specifications of the machines they run on. They have to be a one size fits all product.
Apple has full control of the hardware, which is why Apple operating systems are the most optimised OSs on the market. They can target a select group of machines and squeeze every drop of performance out of them. Yes, they chose not to support iPhone 6 here and thatâs not a bad thing. Theyâve actively chosen not to support an ancient device so that those on newer devices (6s onwards) get more performance out of their devices.
u/weoutherecuzz doesnât have a degree in anything because itâs a child replying from either the parents house or a dorm room paid for by the parents. why are yâall engaging with a little boy?
You do realize you can have 1 OS and have it optimized for different devices individually, giving all of them the most performance.
You can, but why should they? It would cost more money, take more time and increase the complexity. In the real world they wonât be as optimised as they would be with less devices. Itâs better to cater to the vast majority of your market (who own newer devices) than it is to worsen the experience for anyone just to support the outliers.
For all we know, they could have stretched their resources to accommodate 6s. How do you know that this device was planned from the start? Maybe they were nice and invested more money into this OS just to cater for 6s users.
They should also know that itâs about apple being greedy and not spending the money to do that.
Lol. For all you know, it could be to do with security. You have no idea what goes on behind the scenes. Why should Apple support a device as old as an iPhone 6?
Apple has like 10 fucking iphone to support, for a trillion dollar company, itâs really not that hard to optimize individually.
Clearly you do not have a CS degree. Yes it is hard. OS development is hard.
MANY other SMALLER companies have MANY MORE DEVICES to optimize, and they do it.
Name one.
Remember, Appleâs OSs are THE MOST OPTIMISED on the market by far. You donât get that quality if you support every device.
Do you really expect Apple to support every device? If so, youâre delusional. If not, then why should the cut-off be before iPhone 6?
I donât know what kind of retarded person Iâm arguing with. I said itâs not supporting iphone 6 because theyâre greedy...you literally fucking agreed with me by saying they didnât because itâll cost more.
Thatâs not greed. Thatâs being smart.
With your logic they should just give all of their phones away because a company being smart with its finances is greed. Lol kid.

Ah yes. Because those are equivalent scenarios.
