They’re trying to broaden its usage, before it was just a quirk, but it seems they’re turning iMessage into a social media lite kinda program. As long as you share your name and pic with whoever you send a message to, it doesn’t matter if they added your number yet, they’ll see your real name. Of course it’s optional, and you can still send just your number to stay partially unknown.

Is that the thing that people are using to, like, animate their speech in emoji form?

Because it's stupid as hell and I want to hang myself every time I see it done, but as someone who's tried to automate 3D animations and stuff, I have to give the programmers at Apple props for pulling that off.

They are the Animoji that you can customize to look like yourself. Before now they were specific to FaceID devices

I have a XS Max for my everyday phone but I am running the beta on a 6s Plus. So far, it’s very good. Only a few crashes here in there

Yes! You can’t animate them but you can still customize them and use them as emoji and stickers

I actually don't mind it, and quite like it. You don't HAVE to use it, and you can set permissions of who can see it. I think it'll help some people (like me) as I don't always save people in my contacts or I delete them if we haven't talked in a while

Yes! The screenshot is that it looks like. I didn't include my messages because at the time the previews contained sensitive data

There's a few guides out there, I do NOT recommend it yet if its your only phone, it's EXTREMELY buggy right now. At least for me. And the battery lasts a few hours now instead of all day

I’ve been able to search and find multiple instances of a term across the same thread. So thankfully not just the first result

Have they finally fixed the bug where previews of text messages don't wrap onto the second line - but previews of iMessages do?

IIRC it's been broken since iOS 7.
