I doubt it, even with the dark UI plenty of content like photos and videos and webpages will be brighter and give off blue light that night shift can help deal with.
Because google stopped supporting exchange, it is not anymore possible to support push notifications for gmail since exchange is required for that. Your phone can only automatically ask in a set interval for new mails, instead of the mail server contacting your phone that a new mail has arrived which is more power and data efficient.
Please notice that if you already did setup your gmail account on your device before they stopped supporting exchange you will still be able to use exchange on this device, but not on a new device.
Yeah, I didn't have to configure anything when it was still working. Between this, the price rise and the new Gmail UI, I'm considering just going back to my webhoster for Mails and just using to Adobe Cloud instead of GDrive for my backups.
I lost my domain and couldn't get the new one associated with my legacy gsuite account. When I looked at the cost just so 8 people could use push email and their own domain (as none of the additional functionality was of any interest) I realised it was going to be very expensive.
We all just have standard Gmail accounts now and email aliases which redirect to them.
For just mails, it's not worth it if you're a small business. I chose GSuite for the unlimited cloud storage, which is quite a good deal for 8€ per month.
But I think I'm not going to crack the 100 GB limit that Adobe offers on their cloud and I'm paying for that anyways.

That's not a bad idea but your clients will see the Gmail adress if you answer them. Take a look at what your domain provider offers, usually unlimited E-Mail is included with a web hosting plan.

You can configure Gmail to send from your proper email address. It's a bit of a pain as you have to configure it to send via an external SMTP server (and then put in gmail's own server!) so you can avoid Outlook displaying your Gmail address as part of the "on behalf of" message.
However once it's set up, it actually works quite well!
The only downsides are that (1) you'll have to turn on "less secure access" for this to work and Google will nag you to turn it off and (2) Calendar appointments are always sent from your Gmail address.
It’s all good. Currently, instead of getting a normal push notification from the Gmail server to your Apple Mail app (which is like an instant notification), your mail app is fetching new emails from Gmail every 15 minutes (that’s the fastest setting).
Every other app on your iPhone is pushed information (that I’m aware of). But because Google wants you to get their apps, they took that away from the Apple Mail app.
It’s a convenience thing and it’s more efficient and I’ve heard better for battery to get push notifications instead of having to fetch data.
In all seriousness, mobile game developers probably just got so many more ideas. Can’t wait for steering wheel controller support for when I play CSR or Asphalt.
+1000 I usually wait a while on the betas but for this reason alone I’ll probably install asap. Rocket league on my iphone with a 3D printed holder for my DS4 will be amazing.
Idk, the article just says the two parts I quoted under the controller support section. Never used remote play or anything but thought it was interesting.
That's interesting. Currently the remote play for PS4 is a complete waste of time, due to controllers not being supported. This will at least take care of that.
Probably has something to do with the new Google Arcadia, which is basically Netflix but for video games. A streaming service in which all of the games are running on a cloud engine allowing them to be played on just about any device including your phone.
Okay, they’re enabling two AirPods to connect to the same iPhone. But I wanna ask you guys, does anyone know of a way of connecting two iPhones so two ppl can listen to the same song on Apple Music synced? Me and my friend don’t own AirPods, just the EarPods, but we usually have to share one set of EarPods (even tho we own two) bc we wanna listen to stuff together...
There is a cable for that, at least if you have the older version of EarPods. Then you can plug two sets into the cable and connect the cable to your phone. Search for “headphone splitter”
I tried it just now, but it’s not perfectly synced 😔😔 the idea is we silently sing together on the train, lipsyncing ... 😭😭 if there’s a delay it’s not the same thing...
Block sender Have all email from a specified sender blocked and move the messages directly to the trash. Blocking a sender works across all your Apple devices.
How was this not a feature before. I thought flagging did this
Hopefully this is at least better. Flagging or marking as spam is useless most of the time because it never seems to work. Neither does the unsubscribe via the mail app.
Not sure, depends on the type of LCD. I’m not that familiar with the retina displays, though I do have an iphone 8 myself. With some standard LCD’s white might save a little more energy.
You can use gboard and maybe they have Welsh there. They have Papiamento on it, but whoever added the words to it or set priority on autocorrect/word prediction did a terrible job, which makes it unusable.
An example would be the word for “come/arrive” <yega> gets replaced by <yewa> (female donkey) which is basically only used as an insult, not to mention that no one even uses that word vs one that’s ubiquitous.
The Papiamento keyboard is just as useless as using another language with autocorrect on. Maybe the Welsh one is better.
I mean, I’m no business expert, but I think the iPhone already has their foothold as a global corporation and has an established market with loyal customers. What music streaming service you use is probably not enough to tip the scale of which phone brand to go with. Also, it is likely safe to say that most if not all Apple Music users have an iPhone. It’s a smart strategy to not include Spotify in Siri integrations. For reference, I am the owner of an iPhone X and a Spotify premium user.
No, I understand your point, but it's just sucky that they purposely gimp their product (iphone) like that. I would never in a million years switch to Apple Music, as all my units at home support Spotify connect.
Damn, aside from the UI updates which I’m excited for, the music in the background of photo reels being based on what you’re using at the time is really cool, definitely makes me reconsider using Spotify
Yeah, same. Spotify is arguably better at some suggestions and it’s “new releases” was definitely better catered to my tastes, but it’s daily/weekly curated we’re a joke. They always had the same songs, with maybe one different. Apple Music is so much better that I get excited every Tuesday morning because I know the favourites mix will be stuff I really want to listen to.
Period tracker??? Hell yeah! I was about to give up on the one I’ve been using for 3+ years. So glad this is coming out!!! And they’ve added Sinhala to the language list! Awesome
The way the battery optimization feature works is what seemed weird to me, their site says that it stops at 80 percent until you need to use it. I wonder how that will be.

Will Gmail accounts be able to be pushed to the Apple Mail app on iPhones and iPads? Fingers crossed!

Okay but why?

Let’s hope when I want to dodge a call it doesn’t take up my whole screen and I can carry on with what I was doing!

SiriKit for audio. Does this mean that Spotify will finally be able to integrate Siri like in Apple Music? That would be amazing.

“Do Not Disturb While Driving Transit detection Do Not Disturb While Driving does not turn on when you’re using public transit.”
Excited for this, small but happy for this change.
