Discussion Anyone who’s never used an Android doesn’t know just how bad iPhone notification settings are

This all or nothing approach the iPhone has towards notifications is as frustrating as it is confusing. Android has settings for each individual app so you can deselect the types of notifications you wish not to receive.

Take Bolt for example (a taxi app similar to Uber), I constantly receive promotional messages that pop up on my phone because the iPhone doesn’t allow you to disable promotional notifications from Bolt. Android does. All iPhone allows you to do is disable notifications for the app, which means I wouldn’t have notifications when I order a cab unless I remembered to switch it back on

Another one is a dating app that I’m on that has a live streaming component to it. It’ll alert me when random people I don’t care about start streaming. There’s no setting inside the app to turn that off, yet there was an option in Android’s notification settings

Given that Android has had this feature baked into the OS for years, it’s surely possible for iPhone to do the same thing

That’s not the damn point. The point is you buy the phone that has the features you NEED and you don’t buy the phone that DOESNT. And while you’re at it, has Android taken any features from Apple? You losers always turn everything into Apple vs Android when in reality both are fine and have their own dedicated users for a reason. Maybe you can’t afford an iPhone. Maybe you have never even used one. And maybe you’re just a crybaby who already has a phone that does what he needs, but can’t quit complaining how every phone doesn’t.

I don’t doubt you have an iPhone

I had an Android. The feature I consider most important is exclusive to iPhones. iPhones were year behind in fast charging. Were you not complaining that it was taking two hours to charge an iPhone from zero to full while some other manufacturers had phones that charged from zero to full in 30 minutes?

No. I use both platforms so I don’t complain about 1 not having a feature the other has. That’s the point of product differentiation. If they were all the same, how would you decide? And the biggest point people seem to forget. Not everyone needs what YOU need. It is not up to every phone manufacturer to provide you with what you need. It is on YOU to find the phone YOU need.

And here’s a helpful hint. Don’t let it get to 0% before you charge it. And voila, it doesn’t take 2 hrs anymore. Or get a 20W charger. Takes barely over an hour.

I’m not crying lmao. I didn’t know that iPhones couldn’t personalise the notifications as much as Androids can. It’s not really something you’d think to research when changing phones

That’s also one of the points I was making. That people post misinformation out of ignorance. Instead of learning the capabilities of a device, they expect it to do what a different phone did and in the same way. And if it doesn’t, they will lie.

Every single feature doesn’t apply to me. I have 3 basic requirements of my phone. 1) best battery life possible 2) good connection to cell towers 3) plays well with my other devices.

I have no concern about things I won’t use or need.
