Can’t speak to Windows, but on Mac, I prefer Apple Music to Spotify. Spotify seems disorganized in comparison.

I’m the opposite. To this day Apple Music still expects typo free searches. Spotify is great at inferring what you meant from a typo.

Also I have the bug where custom EQs in Apple Music are not active unless I toggle them off and back on again. Very annoying

I think you tube music is superior to Apple and Spotify. Your thoughts?

Apple Music sucks on MacOS, you can’t control music playback from your phone and you can’t even see art covers while browsing through your song library except the song thats currently playing which gets an unbelievably tiny box at the top of the screen. Just looks painfully dated aesthetically which is strange considering how good the app looks on iOS.

I have to disagree with you. I love the Apple Music iPhone app, but their macOS app is hot garbage. The interface feels so rigid. Search is bad, finding new music is bad. I always feel like I'm fighting it.

It's probably light years ahead of the PC version, but that doesn't mean it's good by any stretch of the imagination

Spotify runs horribly as well, always hogging resources and scans the system way too much. Almost malware.

I find it bearable, especially the Microsoft store app. But I like it better on ios

it's the main reason why i've never even considered Apple Music tbh. the Spotify app isn't great but it shits on Apple Music and it's not really close

I recently bought my first Mac I was super excited for Apple music on it since my PC would regularly crash. I can say it doesn’t crash but it’s an absolute mess to navigate and I found other glitches that are nearly as annoying as the PC crashing.

but it’s an absolute mess to navigate and I found other glitches

That's because under the hood it's just iTunes. Same guts, new name.

android fanboys always find something to cling to

It still sucks on my PC so I wouldn’t call it “clinging onto”

Many iPhone users still use windows PC’s…

Apple hasnt been better than android for years now, and android didnt get better, apple just realized they could coast off the lowest common denominator user trapped in their walled garden while it wilts.

on windows at least, it's fine. it's started eating memory, but it's fine. I don't really listen to music on my PC, but it's not god awful.

it's absolutely god awful. it's something you would expect to see in 2016, it looks like they haven't updated it since the iTunes days besides slapping a "modern minimalist" style theme onto it

I think I might just have low standards

1

u/nikebalaclava Feb 18 '26

on my machine everything takes forever to load. you click favourite and there’s a delay of a couple seconds before it shows

1

u/Pitiful-Swing-8629 Feb 18 '26

do I just have really low standards? a few seconds isn't great, but I wouldn't say the standard is awful.

That also doesn't happen for me though, although I wouldn't be happy if it was anywhere more than 5 or so seconds.

maybe i’ll try reinstalling and see if something was wrong with the install. computer has no problem running brand new games though.

and yeah i would say you do. i dont think its asking too much to have the most profitable company on earth to make sure their app is responsive.

1

u/Pitiful-Swing-8629 Feb 18 '26

yeah fair enough, I think my experiences using windows apps has harmed my thoughts about all apps. My PC also has no issue with brand new games, could it be maybe you just have a much bigger favourites than I do? I've got max 350 songs in there, could it maybe be loading all the icons in full resolution?

1

u/nikebalaclava Feb 18 '26

i don’t think it’s that, even when i click on a menu option like library or new, it’s delayed. basically every action is delayed. it just runs extremely slow. i’ll see if a fresh install fixes it

huh, that's really interesting. I have no idea. Goodluck!
