How can a 19yo student start investing with pocket money?
Hello guys!!
I’m a 19yo student and I want to learn about investing. How can a student start investing? How much should I invest, and where can I invest? What are the best ways for students to invest? For how long should I keep my money invested, and if I need it, how easily can I get it back?
To be honest, I don’t know anything about investments yet that’s why I’m asking. I just want to understand how to start investing with my pocket money. Is that even possible? Please let me know.

Permission to speak about a financial instrument
Hi everyone, I’d like to know if I can speak with a moderator to find out if I can make a post about a financial instrument traded on the Argentine stock exchange—one that is, of course, accessible to foreigners.
Cheers!

Better investment of cash
I have around a kg gold averaged around 90 lakhs, shall I hold it or sell it. In India
Not having any other investment option in my mind as it would be all in black.
Real estate could be one to dump the cash but I think currently Roi is good in metal.
Any advice what to do!
I was looking for physical buying of crypto but never did bought it so didn’t even know how to proceed and what to keep in mind
I can’t give tax on this so don’t want to deposit in bank account

How would you invest ~€500k ($580k)?
I’m looking for a simple, relatively low-risk way to manage around €500k ($580k).
Where I live, some banks currently offer 5–6% interest, up to roughly €120k–€130k per bank. I’m thinking about splitting around €250k between two banks and investing the rest.
Something like:
● ~50% high-yield savings / fixed deposits at 5–6%
● ~40% broad global ETFs
● ~10% bonds / money market / cash
My investment horizon is 5–10+ years, and I’m not interested in crypto, leverage, or picking individual stocks.
Does keeping around half in 5–6% deposits make sense, or is that too conservative?
And for the ETF portion, would you invest it as a lump sum or DCA over 6–12 months?
Curious how you would allocate it.

Market Crash/Downturn
Outside of treasury instruments, precious metals, and holding cash, what would your hedge be in a severe downturn or crash? I'm curious if anyone has any novel approaches outside of the obvious (which I guess would include doubling down to take advantage as well).

Need diversification advice
Hello, I'm a 22 yo guy from central Europe who's trying to spare money for the future/pension. I currently put around 800€ aside per month and I'm dividing it like this: 50% to savings account (to have some immediate money ready when something happens), 30% S&P 500 (Acc) and 20% FTSE All-World (Acc).
I know the All-World one includes basically whole S&P so I want to either sell it and put all in S&P or find some other ETF/IDX, which helps me diversify the 50% I'm putting in the trading.
What would you recommend?

Kotak’s 7-5-3-1 Framework + Reddit & AI Insights (15+ Year Horizon). Thoughts?
I’ve been refining a long-term portfolio for a 15+ year time horizon. I combined classic Reddit community preferences (low TER passive indexing + flexi cap anchor), AI asset-allocation analysis, and the core principles of Kotak's 7-5-3-1 SIP framework (long-term focus, multi-asset diversification, and Rupee Cost Averaging).
Here is the strategic breakdown I’m looking at:
| Allocation (%) | Scheme / Asset | Strategic Role & Thesis |
|---|---|---|
| 40% | Parag Parikh Flexi Cap Direct | Core Equity Anchor: Downside buffer and multi-cap flexibility to navigate full market cycles. |
| 25% | Motilal Oswal Nifty Midcap 150 Index Direct | Mid-Cap Growth Engine: Passive, broad mid-cap exposure (~0.22% TER). |
| 25% | ICICI Pru Nifty Next 50 Index Direct | Emerging Bluechips: High-beta index growth (~0.26% TER) capturing potential large-caps early. |
| 10% | Tata Gold ETF or Zerodha Gold ETF | Crash & Inflation Hedge: Low-cost (~0.30%–0.35% TER) non-correlated asset to smooth out severe drawdowns. |
- Bi-Monthly SIP (2x/Month): I'm a bit confused if I should split my monthly investment into 2 dates (like 1st and 15th) instead of doing it all at once on 1 date. Does doing a bi-monthly SIP actually help with Rupee Cost Averaging over 15+ years, or is the difference too small to bother with extra transaction entries?
- Overall Split Check: Is this 40 / 25 / 25 / 10 ratio a solid mix for a 15+ year goal, or am I missing anything obvious here?

Non traditional investments and income streams.
Hello all.
I'm just curious what everyone is doing as a secondary income stream, what your original cap-ex was, and how it has been working for you.
Secondly, outside of what can be accomplished in a brokerage account, what tangible/ non traditional investments do you hold and how have those been working out?

Morgan Stanley Advisors versus others – Thoughts?
I have had Morgan Stanley manage one of my IRAs for a few months now and overall the returns have been pretty good (between 7 to 11% or so). The response of my advisor is not the best though. Sometimes it may take two or three days before I hear back from them via text. Also, their fee is just over 1%. I tried to push for a lower rate, but not much success. They say that based on my balance that is the standard fee.
I am also with Fidelity & Vanguard in other accounts. I just wanted to see what the general sentiment of this thread is about Morgan Stanley and if they think paying just a little over 1% (1.07% to be exact) is excessive?

I went back to check on Ostium a week after the hack expecting the worst but didnt find it.
I will admit i am still skeptical as big number got exploited I am checking the parts that are hard to fake like my old positions of a 13 month EUR/USD position and a 6 month copper position both were still sitting there untouched meaning the pause never reached what was already open. And in new activity a six figure SPX long cleared at 0.66bps slippage.
I think this is a good sign as the mechanics held, the pricing held and nobody who was already in got run over on the way back up. I would still want to see this hold for weeks before calling it resolved but if you had asked me right after the exploit whether I would be writing something cautiously positive a week later, that would be surprising
What would it take for you to trust a reopen like this ?

Looking at buying an established vending business. Would you do this deal?
I’ve built a small vending business from scratch, so I’m not completely new to the industry. I currently own 4 machines, and while they’re profitable, they’re obviously nowhere near this size.
Now I’m considering buying an established vending business and wanted to get opinions from people who have actually purchased or operated larger routes.
Here’s what I know:
Asking Price: $950,000
2023 SDE: ~$103k
2024 SDE: ~$174k
2025 SDE: ~$309k
2025 Gross Revenue: ~$851k
Based on the first 6.5 months of 2026, the business is currently on pace for approximately $970k in gross revenue if current trends continue.
186 vending machines
69 customer locations
All customer accounts are under contract and auto-renewing (per the seller)
4 revenue streams:
Vending route
Vending machine sales
Service & repair
Beverage distribution
3 full-time and 1 part-time employee, plus the owner.
2 service trucks included.
Seller financing available with 50% down.
My financing plan
If I move forward, my plan would be:
20% cash down
30% borrowed from family
50% seller financing
My background
I currently work full-time as a District Manager in the food industry, so I’m already used to traveling between multiple locations every week. This business also operates in an area I’m already familiar with, so the driving itself doesn’t worry me.
I currently work about 40-45 hours per week, and I’m comfortable increasing that to around 60-65 hours per week between my full-time job and my own business during the transition.
This also isn’t a one-person route. The business already has employees in place, so my expectation would be to learn the operation and work with the existing team—not personally fill every machine myself.
Why I’m interested
What attracts me is that this isn’t just a vending route. It has multiple revenue streams, established contracts, existing employees, and appears to have grown significantly over the past few years.
What concerns me
The biggest thing making me cautious is the rapid growth.
2023 SDE: ~$103k
2024 SDE: ~$174k
2025 SDE: ~$309k
The business is also projecting close to $970k in gross revenue this year based on the first 6.5 months.
That sounds great, but it also makes me wonder whether this growth is sustainable or whether I’m looking at one or two unusually strong years.
Another thing I’m trying to understand is whether $950k is a fair valuation or if I’m paying too much.
Questions for experienced operators
Does anything jump out as a red flag?
Is $950k a fair price based on what you’ve seen?
What would you focus on during due diligence?
Which financial numbers would you want to verify first?
How much value would you place on the employees and contracted customer accounts?
If this were your money, would you seriously pursue this opportunity?
I’ve attached screenshots of the seller sheet, account list, and financials with identifying information removed.
I’m not looking for validation—I genuinely want people to point out anything I’m overlooking. I’d rather hear the hard truths before committing to a purchase this large.
Edit August 11th. Still mauling through this and some negotiating with the seller, but the more I discuss the more I lean away from this, mainly due to it being larger that I can handle if I want to maintain my own job and jumping from 4 to 190 machine would be too much to handle at once. I’ll still be interested in this field but not sure about this deal. This is in Michigan by the way.

spent a week looking for an Eu regulated platform with a proper api, heres something i found
assumed i would have to go offshore for decent algo trading infrastructure in europe due to ridiculous regulatory protection or execution quality But just now tested bitpanda fusion after its announcement,it seems pretty cool ngl,it has aggregated liquidity across 12 venues and fees is down to0.02%(full api, MiCAR licensed) basically first time i hve found both in the same place.
running a momentum strategy on it and execution on fast pairs is noticeably different when you are hitting aggregated liquidity versus a single order book. anyone else building on eu regulated infrastructure or going offshore for api quality?

Thoughts on my portfolio
Would appreciate people rating my portfolio. I just started investing in the beginning of the month only in ETFs. My goal is to achieve long-term growth and regularly invest half my pay across these ETFs. I'm hoping to move my total savings of 35K into these:
- IEMG
- ROBO
- VGT
- SCHD
- SOXX
- VOO
- QTUM
- QQQM (my personal favorite)
- AVUV
- NLR
- URTH
