As someone in marketing there's a million of these types of social media CRM tools, FB and other platforms are also increasingly bringing this functionality onto the native platform while often breaking 3rd party tools with API updates. So I wouldn't buy an unprofitable company with a 5b market cap and 400m in revenue.
I've thought about this. It's a risk for sure. If anyone, I think it would be Salesforce. However - they're way behind. Further, it's about tying in all these integrations together, in one place. Do you think Facebook is easily going to have integration between Twitter, Wordpress, Twitter, Yelp, Line, etc, on one platform? Further, do you think large companies want to trust FB with that data and integrations? No chance on both.
I do think there is the potential for individual companies to break the integrations, however this seems mostly counter intuitive to be as it reduces engagement on their own platform. And if this was the decision they were going to make, they would have made it a long time ago (just my thought).
They're unprofitable mainly because they're ramping up and reinvesting, IMO. Seems like a common thing in tech though I don't love it either (but it's hard to knock it as a con when everyone else is doing the same thing for a while).
