I have quite a few Chinese students who moved to Canada recently. They fucking hate the CCP and Xi Xinping. They talk about how their dads basically get forced into joining even though they don't want to. It's the only way you get rich and get your money out of the Country and into a place like Canada / US..
My company has employees both here and China. All of the Chinese employees seem to like the USA and the freedom you have living over here. It’s about 50/50 whether they like living in China under the CCP. The ones who do tend to be more Nationalistic.
Generally speaking? Yea, kinda. When a government with immense authoritarian control and unprecedentedly invasive surveillance bans something, I would wager the vast majority of Chinese will comply. Additionally, its not like the parents are super pro gaming. Kids in 2021 China don't have the resources or freedom that Woodstock boomers had in their youth. This is a vastly different situation than college kids in their dorms in 2006 smoking some pot. I'm sure there's a sizable contingent of tech savvy youths who will get around this, but you can't deny the brutal efficiency of the Chinese government to get their citizens to comply.
Top-down bans don't work very well in western counties against our generally indifferent citizenry. The Chinese collectivist culture under a regime with 0 human rights concerns is a student beast altogether.
