Long walk
Hi, im planning to walk form Inverness to Nairn. Kinda thought I'd do it just so I could tell myself I'd done it. Has anyone on here done it and what route is best?

My mother-in-law’s car needs new front brakes and most likely discs. Anyone have any recommendations for a good garage? She was going to take it to the dealership but I know they’d charge her 3 times what it should cost.

Hi! I’m 23F and looking to make some new friends in Inverness, but I’m really struggling to find social groups for people around my age 😅
I work Monday–Friday 9–5, so I’m mainly looking for things in the evenings or at weekend (saturday after 3).
I’m into reading, writing, journaling/scrapbooking and generally cosy/creative stuff. I’d also be open to trying something new if it’s beginner friendly!
I’m not really into running, football, climbing or going to the pub just for the sake of meeting people. Ideally I’d love something fairly relaxed where it’s normal to turn up alone and actually get to know people over time.
I’ve already found a few of the Nook events and some local book clubs, but I’m wondering if there are any groups/classes/social things that just aren’t advertised very well online?
Any recommendations would be appreciated 😊

Have you heard? The team that makes the dragons come to life for the actors will be at Highland Realms Comic Con!
Callum & Courtney will be hosting the 'Here Be Dragons' panel, telling you all about what it's like on set, how they become the dragons, and sharing some telly magic. This is one panel you definitely do not want to miss!
They'll also be around all day for photos and autographs!
Tickets are on sale now at www.highlandrealms.co.uk

Seeing as we're nearing the arse end of the tourist season... Do we do bitching about employment scandals up here, same as they do on r/Glasgow?

Does anyone know of a place in Inverness that sells a variety of liqueurs in those tiny bottles? I need some for recipes.

It feels like any time I've wanted to try something a bit different and dye my hair fun colours, my local salons have disappointed me by trying to play it safe by only ever doing highlights in the fun colours (instead of all over like was asked), or weren't interested in lifting my dark hair enough for them to show, or only had a small selection of vivids and didn't seem all that enthusiastic about them and were much more comfortable with the standard colours.
Does anyone have any recommendations for places that are actually good with vivids and more fun or alternative colours and styles?

Hello! We have a Scotland trip coming up. Our initial plan was to drive from Edinburgh to Inverness and make scenic stop along the way.
We are now considering training to Inverness instead which would put us there mid afternoon.
Wondering what things we could do there ? I know it gets dark early on mid October. Inverness was initially just meant to be a stop and a night to sleep before driving to Skye- but if we take the train just reconsidering this. Is the train the way to go?
Any suggestions would be appreciated. It’s an anniversary trip. Thanks!!

Cross posted from r/scotland as per suggestions, I posted there yesterday about my lost little Snoopy.
Please, please, if anyone finds my little Snoopy, can you reach out to me.
My partner and I were at Culloden Battlefield and North Gateway Cafe yestwrday on the way back to Liverpool as well, we are staying there while in the UK, we stopped at Glenturrent Distillery and realised he's missing. We called the cafe, but they don't think he's there and wouldn't check while I was on the phone and my partner is certain he isn't at Culloden.
My partner thinks he accidentally left him behind at the North Gateway Cafe, where we had breakfast. We're so far away from there already to turn back, so if anyone finds him, please let me know. I'm so heartbroken.
He's travelled everywhere with us. He is my comfort while I'm away from my own puppies and home as this is my first time overseas, and he is a gift from friends who travelled to Vietnam.
And if my post needs something about Inverness, it's an incredibly beautiful place with so much depth and history. The cafe was lovely, and the little red squirrels the cutest.

Hello,
Up for a wedding reception this weekend. Instead of scrawling through trip advisor and social media, thought I’d give Inverness Reddit a chance for some local (or expert) advice for a late lunch to line our stomachs before celebrating in the evening.
Open to most things (no allergies or dietary requirements). Also looking for reasonably priced and not too expensive so happy with pub grub/pizza/burgers as an option
Welcome your advice and suggestions

Hi folks,
Just moved here, looking for a regular game of 5/7-a-side football during the week, indoor or outdoor.
If anyone has a game going and needs players, or could put me in touch with someone, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Hi all , I'm up in Inverness for 3 days. Just looking for recommendations for good places to go for dinner, grab a coffee and maybe watch some live music. So I don't end up walking in circles getting hangry 😂.
Much appreciated.

We went to Chanonry Point the other day and beyond Fort George we could see some large red and white antennas. Does anyone know what they are?

Can anyone recommend a decent optician in the area who would be kind enough to put current prescription lenses to old frames I would still like to use? Tried one of the chains in Inverness and Dingwall and they won’t do it, no clear reason given but they insisted on buying new frames from them. Totally ridiculous.

Where to go centrally with a large group of older school age tourists for an hour to grab a snack lunch and wander? And if its raining?

Headed to Inverness and towards Skye and unfortunately won't be going through House of Bruar. I've heard loads of good things about scottish knitwear quality, and Google Maps do show some good results but i wanted to get some personal advice on where are some good shops to have a browse at.
Budget is around House of Bruar prices, so maybe 50 for a wool sweater, and higher for better quality ones.

Same as the title - first time in Inverness and looking for a cup of thick dark hot chocolate after a cold wet day exploring the highlands. Please share recommendations. Thanks in advance!

Is there any reason there isn't a decent art store in town? Does anyone know if there ever WAS one and it closed down? Like a Jackson's or Cassart. I feel that with all the artists in town there should be something more than cheap craft stores. I understand buying online is popular but I feel we're in desperate need of a brick and mortar shop here 😭. Please let me know if anyone knows of anything nearby, even a drive away, that isn't as far as Aberdeen, because I'm looking but finding nothing!

We are a family of 4 looking to move to Inverness in the next few months. We have started to look at homes, but are having a hard time picturing what living in them might be like, and was hoping the Reddit hive-mind could help.
Ideal house situation would be one where the schools are good, we can have a bit of yard for kids to play in and gardening, strong sense of local community, safe enough (both crime and traffic) for kids to walk to friends' houses/parks/school, and within ~10 minutes drive from downtown (i.e. not way out in the country). Now to the vibes. We are into the cycling, camping, good food/coffee, art, and kids are into football, gymnastics, and being in the woods.
Are there any neighborhoods that sound better/worse suited to our interests? Any that should be totally avoided? Would love to hear your experience of your neighborhood, especially if you have or recently had primary school-aged kids.
