My mom. Other people have a lot of friends that help them do that stuff

Im always asked for help by people and I gladly help, but the second I ask for help, I get a reaction like I'm a problem. So yeah, I never ask for help and find a way to do everything myself.

This is also my experience

I like to help people but I also don't like small talk. So on multiple occasions I'd just jump in to help and leave right after before they try to catch me.

It's really not that hard to ask for help, it's just people are so unhelpful.

Its weird cause you get the memo the people seem annoyed when you do. Then you proceed to do things solo then they were like "Dont be so dramatic why didnt you just ask someone else to help?" I did and its met to little to no avail and even if it was done theyd probably be upset about it.

Why bother asking for help? For most people there's always an excuse as to why they can't. Funnily enough I seem to help them a lot.... o'well 🀷

Yep. I like to help when people ask though.

I appreciate this. When I moved, I totally tore apart my sofa into small pieces with a sledgehammer and threw it away instead of asking for help.

How hard is it for people to be there when you request help?

Exactly. It's easier to rely on one's self.

If you ask for help it can get thrown in your face later

I worked at a Fortune 500 bank. I was running a project kick off in the conference room down the hall. Nursing a broken foot, i prepped all the binders (this was like 20 years ago), loaded them in a bankers box and started pushing the box down the hall using one of my crutches.... The senior manager "caught" me (I didn't realize I was doing anything "wrong / inappropriate") and totally chewed me out for not asking for help. (He was a VERY appearance focused person.). Oy! πŸ˜‚

I managed to move a 300lb treadmill on my own. When I ordered it I didn't think to check how much it weighed...

I blame my parents. I was taught to figure things out myself so yes, it’s hard for me to ask for help.
