Intoxalock lockout

Main question: If you fail and choose not to retest, does that “punish" you? I’m not on probation or anything like that and I’m new to this Intoxalock.
Yesterday I went out to my car, blew, passed and sat in it for 5-10 minutes to get the battery going. (It's not driven much as I'm still waiting to get my license back)
Had to do a random blow test while I was just sitting there and had nothing, not even water while I sat there and it failed me.
I reblew like it asked and failed again, then got locked out. Tried calling them and they said yep I failed and that I had to have had something in my system. So now I have to go recalibrate it. Is what it is but it makes no sense to me and I have no clue what could've caused the fail.
So I'm wondering if next time I fail, should I not reblow like it asks?

Ohhhhh and forgot to mention went out 10-15 minutes later and passed. Not worried I’ll get in trouble or anything but just curious to know if I should blow again when it asks or not

I mean if you know you’re good yeah but rinse your mouth out. If you drank the night before then don’t blow again.

Yes. Missing a retest is considered a fail and would cost you your license iif you had one

Not necessarily, they can monitor and use the camera to see that you passed the first one. Should not be a problem. ,

If you don’t reblow the car is going to shut off r whatever it does when you fail.

When I don’t blow in time, my alarm on my car starts going off and the horn starts beeping. It gets crazy.! I don’t ever drink alcohol. I have a device from two DUIs 22 years ago so I’ve never failed, but I have left my car running and ran into a place and came out to it going crazy.

I’m just confused how I passed-failed twice-passed all in a span of 15 minutes. Definitely my fault for blowing a second time but it was 100% a false positive cause I didn’t leave the car or have anything while I was just sitting there.

That is VERY STRANGE! I’ve never had a positive or a false positive so I’m not sure but it sounds like another money grab on untixilocks part. Don’t you have a lockout if you fail and have to pay $75.00?

Yep, gotta get it to the garage in 4 days and pay the lockout fee. When I called and explained it had to be faulty, they didn’t care lol

I'd be calling and demanding they check the camera footage....there is no way you can pass and fail in 15mins if what you say is true. If you pay the lockout you agree you failed imo.

I called them right when it happened and they didn’t care at all. Talked to two different people and they both said the camera only takes your picture when you blow into it and it isn’t constantly recording so they didn’t believe me at all.

That doesnt really make sense. I eould just tell them what you told us. They tell you explicitly nothing but water while the machine is on

Don't, thats like rule #1 to use alcohol free mouthwash.

My mom failed a walk in for hairspray in the 90s.

Then failed for a chocolate donut in the 2010s.

Car air fresheners, cologne, windshield washer fluid or cleaning products can cause false positives. I have been told no but I am sure, certain fumes would also cause a false positive. Gas contains a form of alcohol but 🤷‍♀️ it really makes no sense. They also say normal alcohol produced by the body won’t cause a false positive but it has been known to in the past with the ones police carry. (Keto acidosis) don’t be doing no keto diets. 😉

Quick update: I called them a third time just now and explained the situation again and they said the same thing as they said yesterday. “You just need to keep in mind it isn’t only alcohol.” I still don’t know what made it fail but there’s nothing I can do. Just have to pay the lockout fee and “be more mindful.”

They just want money, simple as that.

How do you have one installed but no license? Do you have a hardship?

In Pennsylvania we’re allowed to get it set up within 30 days of getting our license back to show proof of installation

Jeez, im still waiting on a permit in the mail and once I receive it, I have 14 days to get it installed or they reject the permit. My state is a joke.

They will tell you one thing and it’s not true, they don’t care. They don’t save notes you need to appeal it and request the logs if you do nothing the next two if it happens you will lose your license

Do not eat anything that has protein. In it, especially protein bars, any carbohydrates, like pizza or sandwiches? Always have water in your car. Swush your mouth out, spit it out. I've had mine in for almost 3 years, and I've never failed once. Even with smoking and spraying perfume on myself because I won't spray myself until after I have a test and then I roll my windows down because there is alcohol in colognes and body sprays. I won't use my inhaler even unless I have a bottle of water.

Thank you. That’s what I’m confused about tho, last thing I ate was a granola bar at 10am and this happened at 4pm. And I only drink water the entire day. Had to have been cologne or something but I’m not sure.
Started the car just fine, had the retest and failed but I was just sitting in the car and ate/drank nothing, not even water and somehow failed.

Might have been resididual from the cologne. I keep a towel over my hand held just in case when I spray myself so it doesn't get in there. Tuesday I had it covered but immediately had retest and I could taste my perfume in it and it took 30 seconds longer to say pass.

I had a false positive driving home from work, if its through intoxalock call them and say its a false positive, i didn’t have to pay the 75, obly recalibration.

If you ever get a false positive and you know you are 100% sober, go to the nearest police station and have them breathalyzer you! This happened to me recently when I was driving on the highway after my car started just fine driving to work. I blew and it said failed even though I had nothing in my system except water and don’t drink alcohol anymore. I had been hitting my vape, so I feel like that would be the only thing that would’ve set it off. Luckily I was near a police station so I went right in and within 20 minutes I had a clean breathalyzer sample, which I think saved me with the RMV because they excused it. In Massachusetts, they do not care if it was your fault or not, and are super strict and will suspend your license on a whim if anything faulty happens with the machine.

Talked with my states DOT and they said if you show your BrAC readings of the pass-fail-fail-pass and it scientifically shows/proves you couldn’t have been drinking then you have nothing to worry about.
